For our Australian members you can no longer apply for any visas by the “old method” of sending in your passport to the Thai embassy/consulate to get a sticker affixed to your passport.
As of March 19th Australia will switch to the “sticker-less” evisa system which means everything is done online.
If you live in NSW you apply and choose the Sydney Consulate. Elsewhere you apply choosing the Canberra Embassy.
The option to apply on line will not go live until the 19th. Until then you’re in limbo as they won’t accept applications anymore via post.
As yet we don’t know the new pricing structure for visas from Australia although they have said there will be price increases.
New Zealand are switching on the same date and have released new prices - some 3-5x higher than previous. Australia may have the same sort of increase but as yet this is unknown.
The online system to apply is here. [members only]/
TLDR : Answer Summary
As of March 19th, Australians can no longer apply for Thai visas using the traditional method of mailing their passports to the embassy for sticker application. The new 'sticker-less' eVisa system requires applications to be submitted online, with specific instructions to choose either the Sydney Consulate (for NSW residents) or the Canberra Embassy (for others). The option for online applications will be available starting March 19th. Current pricing structures for visas remain undetermined, but significant price increases are anticipated, similar to the recent changes experienced by New Zealand applicants.
