For those of you that use the Phuket Immigration Office in Phuket Town and specifically room 204 (upstairs) they are enforcing a strict dress code. Please dress politely. This also means no shorts for men too.

Interesting

Knees and shoulders need to be covered, no midriff showing and no low cut necklines.

Fitted shorts (or longs) and a collared shirt probably does the job, easy.

it’s amazing whenever I go to a Thai government office I always dress respectfully. Then these tattoo and tank top people- 🤮

It 's not difficult, just wear long shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Shoes or casuals.

Thanks Stuart for this good information.

Since when do they inforce this? Since years i see woman in shorts with half their ass out and men in muscle shirts and nobody says a word. Outside on the door there is a sign with a dress code.

I'm not against they enforcing whatever dressing code they want to, but they should be more specific. What different people consider polite varies roughly. In South Korea is not impolite to wear flip fold sandals all year around while at the same time wearing a suit during lunch time when you go to the bank or restaurant (the shoes keep stored at the office), for example.

This sign seems to be specifically in front of the government office, the sign with detailed/specific dress codes is in front of every immigration office, thats where most foreigners need to go to. I haven‘t seen the government office since I live here, don‘t know who has to go there.

And that's why I'm saying they need to specify what's considered polite here. I can't know by myself (how could I if I just arrived a few days ago?).

If they write: no shorts, no sandals or wear this wear that, it'd be easier to understand.
