TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies that the main application fee for the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) is not the rumored 10,000 baht every 180 days as some claim, but rather an extension fee of approximately 1,900 baht. After initially obtaining the visa, holders can leave and re-enter Thailand to secure a new 180-day stamp. However, after 360 days of stay (two consecutive 180-day stamps), someone will need to leave Thailand for re-entry. There is a mention of possible requirements to update bank statements and other documents upon extensions.

Detail: some people said that if you extend, you'll have to inform immigration about new bank statement(s) and inherent documents to professional activity for last month(s) again

@Rachid ******
Yes I saw an interview with foreign affairs and they said 1900 plus showing proper documentation. But if you leave and come back you get six months each time, no docs.
Amin ***********
@J.P. ********
Oh, I must have misremembered the documentation-part then. Seems better to leave and re-enter every 6 months to in that case. Saves some hassle.
Amin ***********
@Rachid ******
The Thai government official who oversees this visa denied this and said you cans simply renew it without having to supply any documentation in a Youtube interview.
Andy ***********
It is 1900
Keron ******
The deputy general of consular affairs said the extension is 1900 Bhat:

@Keron *****
Yes, but someone earlier said he said 10k and I replied to him then he blocked me lol
Anders *******
I hear and read both, some say the price is like all extension, 1900b, and some say
*****
b 🤷🏼‍♂️

We just have to wait and see when it’s time.

But any way you have unlimited entrys during your 5 years, so maby a boarder bounce will be the cheapest 😜
Marcos ******************
@Anders ******
unlimited? Max is 1 year in total within these 5 years, right?
Anders *******
@Marcos *****************
No, you get 180 days, buy 180 more and this you are able to repeat during your 5 years of DTV.
Marcos ******************
@Anders ******
btw, Thai authorities require you to update your ongoing proof of work?
Anders *******
@Marcos *****************
To new to know 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thailand is Thailand, so this we have to wait and see how they will manage the extensions 😇🙏🏻

@Anders ******
thanks for the clarification 👌

@Marcos *****************
But after every 360 days (180+180) you must leave the kingdom and re-enter again 🙏🏻

@Anders ******
because nobody really knows yet.

What we do know is that once you have the visa you can bounce out and back and get a NEW 180 day stamp.

people have already gotten DTVs from their country, came here got stamped in for 180 days, then went out of thailand and came back and gotten a NEW 180 day stamp when they stamped back in
Elías ********
@Tod ********
yes. Making extension unnecessary, unless you have a very specific reason for not leaving Thailand even for a single day.
Jason *********
Everything I've heard, even officials are saying $10K Baht every 180 days. Best video I've found

Yes 100%

no. Wrong

I talked personally with immigration officers
Tim ***********
@Sherif *******
they probably misunderstood you. But actually no one has done an extension yet and if you go by other visas it’s probably 1900

Watch this video and check the comments

Have a great day

@Sherif *******
ah, so you didn't ask an immigration officer. You just watched a youtube video. This is not an immigration officer. This is someone from Foreign Affairs. He does NOT say that the extension is 10,000baht. If you actually watch the video, at 13:25 seconds he says "currently the extension is 1,900 baht". People in the comments have no idea what they're talking about... Next time you reply please show actual evidence that the extension is 10k baht.
Sherif ********
@Tim **********
If I said I talked to immigration officer so I did

If you don’t believe this then f off

Simply
Roberto *******
@Sherif *******
it costs 10,000baht is you want to extend your visa by another 180 days and not leave the kingdom.

If you leave before 180 days, then come back, the 180 day ticker starts again with no charge.
Tim ***********
@Roberto ******
someone else giving false information. No you have no evidence that an extension is 10,000 baht. Watch the video above where at 13:25 the guy from foreign affairs says its currently 1,900 but its under immigration. No one has extended the DTV yet.
Katy *******
No. That's the application fee. (Or something close to that depending on where you apply). You'll have an extension cost of 1900 baht and a border bounce/crossing to do every year for five years.
Lucas ********
@Katy ******
I have to the extension for what ? If I have to leave th country before 180 days
Romain ****
@Lucas *******
if you want to stay one year
Stuart *********
@Katy ******
Be careful advising that an extension is only 1,900 baht. We are awaiting written confirmation but immigration sources have said the extension is 10,000 baht as per the Thai text on the visa details.
Elías ********
@Stuart ********
there's no need for an extension if you leave before the first 180 days, and then, enter again, as you'll get 180 days upon each entry.
Stuart *********
@Elías *******
Yes. That seems to be the case for now. Time will tell if things change on the rules.
James ********
@Stuart ********
correct ✅
Romain ****
@Stuart ********
if it was
*****
baht as first mentioned before they released it, it would be an exception to all other extensions that are all 1900 baht. Plus, no one would bother and just would border run cheaper than
*****
baht. Let’s wait for confirmation but I believe it would be 1900 baht. That’s what was mentioned by the guy interviewed by retiree working for you
Tod *********
@Romain ***
that guy that was interviewed was an MFA worker <- Ministry of Foreign Affairs office doesn't do anything but run embassies and sell visas outside the country. They have zero control over what an extension inside the country would be..

I think we're really gonna hafta wait 5 months or so until someone on a 180 day stamp goes to get an extension. It MIGHT be 1900baht like all extensions are inside the country BUT who knows.
Stuart *********
@Romain ***
Sure why would anyone bother. Just do a border bounce. The interviewee was from MFA I believe. Completely separate government department to immigration.

We will have to wait and see. It’s going to be 4 months or so before anyone is close to applying for an extension.
Jared *********
@Stuart ********
source please. The text in the original documents do not say this.
Tod *********
@Jared ********
this is the wording where it says a 180 day extension after a 180 day entry is 10K
Jared *********
@Tod ********
interesting because the English version does not say that... It only states the original application fee.

and even this Thai version is not clear.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the future
Stuart *********
Jared Elliott A divisional commander at immigration during a training session for volunteers. I do not have a written source, but i know
@Tod ********
has the Thai text somewhere.
Katy *******
@Stuart ********
Oh. I was not aware of that.
