Ok. Tomorrow (Wednesday 17th) immigration offices will be open. Many of the major ones like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Jomtien, Phuket, etc will be off the wall charts busy after a 5 day closure. Theyโ€™re open on Thursday and Friday too and will probably be a lot less busy.

If you have had a stamp that has expired since the 12th then definitely go tomorrow (early in the morning). You can get an extension as normal but you will get an overstay stamp but not a fine as the offices were closed. The extension will be dated from the day it was due.

If the wait times are astronomical then please donโ€™t blame the staff. They will be working as best they can but it will certainly be hard to cope with the sheer numbers that turn up.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Immigration offices in Thailand, including major locations like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Jomtien, and Phuket, will reopen on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, after a five-day closure. Expect extremely high traffic, and those with expired stamps since April 12 should visit early. Extensions can be obtained without fines for overstays due to the closure, which may lead to significant wait times at the offices.

Yes Iโ€™m working tomorrow. It wonโ€™t be pleasant. Thatโ€™s for sure. Blame us all you like. It wasnโ€™t us that set a 5 day holiday or the people that didnโ€™t have a clue about closures and are now in panic mode.

Why didn't you make some type of announcement last week telling people immigration offices would very closed? I feel like that would have helped.
