Heads up for April immigration office closures.

Thursday 6th April closed for Chakri Memorial Day.

Thursday 13 - Monday 17th (inclusive) closed due to Songkran.

Many offices will be manic on Tuesday the 18th after being closed for 5 days so try to avoid if you possibly can.

Airports and land borders operate as normal during these times.

Answer summary

In April 2023, Thai immigration offices will be closed on Thursday, April 6th for Chakri Memorial Day and from Thursday, April 13th to Monday, April 17th for Songkran. It is advised to avoid visiting offices on Tuesday, April 18th due to expected high traffic as many people will be seeking assistance following the closures. Additionally, airports and land borders will remain operational during this period. If a visa extension expires while the immigration is closed, individuals should visit the office as soon as it reopens to receive a stamp that waives any overstay fine due to the closure.

If you have an extension that expires on a day that immigration is closed then go the very next day that it is open to apply. You will get a stamp that says “overstay- fine waived due to closure”
