Not true anymore. They’ll issue on any visa type now - even exempt.

we are still waiting to see the full details of what will be needed for an extension but I’ve been told by immigration officials that the cost of an extension will be 10,000 baht.

You have to have 12 monthly international bank transfers of at least 65,000 baht. What income you may receive in overseas banks is irrelevant.

Yes. Depending on the office you use you’ll need 15-21 days left on a valid stamp to apply.

Perhaps a “lost in translation” moment. Or the officer just didn’t know the rules. The DTV is completely new to most officers. Currently I’d speculate that none of them will know what the requirements will be to get a 180 day extension, so many may just not be aware of the need for 90 day reports.

Thai consulates in general will be closed on Thai national holidays (and any local government holidays). The 14th is a substitute holiday for the 13th which is for the passing of the late King and this year falls on a Sunday.

Not sure why you’d need an agent in Bangkok to help. You apply for it outside of Thailand. Use one of the nearby consulates that allow walk in or one of them that have switched to the evisa system.

You nor an agent can apply IN Thailand

I assume you are referring to the DTV visa rather than the multiple entry tourist visa.

If so and can meet the financial requirement of 500k in your bank then it’s by far the best option for many for long term stay in Thailand.

You get 5 years and on each entry you get stamped in for 180 days.

Bounce and return for another 180 days during the 5 year validity.

A UK passport holder can enter Thailand with no visa for a stay of up to 60 days. You can even apply for a one off extension for a further 30 days at a local immigration office for 1,900 baht.

My bad wording of the answer.
