Hello all!

I have a small predicament. My family is moving to Bangkok in may/June and while my husband will be getting a DTV, I’m not sure what I should do. We have a couple kids with us so this is where it gets complicated. While I know we can attach to the DTV as dependents, I’m in university for a TESL degree and need to start an internship in August. If I’m correct, I believe I can’t be on the DTV if I’m also on an education visa for my internship. But… my husband has to fly back to the states in July alone so the kids (who will be on his DTV) will be left with me in BKK. Curious how we should work this… would it be more beneficial to hold off on applying for the DTV until after he gets done in the states (it’s only a 2 week trip), and just hang out on visa exempt for a couple months??

Filling up online form for a one year Ed visa from abroad, I have to inout return ticket details.

Does the mentioned return date have to be within 3months?

Do I have to buy a return ticket for that date really? If yes, It would just go wasted.

For the DTV soft power does attending Thai language school qualify for this? I attended a Thai language school and had an education visa back in 2020, attended about two months then covid hit and the school closed due to restrictions. I would like to re-enroll to study, the course is 9 months, after it’s finished I wish to attend their higher advanced course. Would this qualify for Thai dtv soft power?

I only qualify for soft power activities.

My situation requires I sought the cheapest, yet successful option.

Can you please share your lived experience?

Hi, I need some advice. I’m planning to go back to Thailand on a single entry tourist visa in a few months and do plan to stay the 60days. I will have a flight back to the UK and accomodation proof as well. It will have been 8 months since my last visit which was a visa exemption changed to a 6 months education visa which i left to come back to England one month earlier than the expiry date. When I go back, in the last two years I’ve had one single entry tourist visa which I extended for 30 days, two visa exemptions (one was 16 days holiday) and the other was the one I mentioned above converting to education visa. I’m just worried about Thai immigration as I’ve heard they can be very strict sometimes and worried about education visa stamp on my passport. I did attend classes and can understand and speak Thai a little bit but still slightly nervous. I know I don’t have as many entries as other people but just not sure as Immigration at Phuket airport can be unpredictable. Any advice welcome!

Learn Thai with the Rapid Method and be eligible for a DTV?

Canaan Foundation for Education would like to offer the one-year Rapid Learn Thai course as part of their DTV "soft power" program.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs won't say specifically in advance whether it will be approved or not. In fact, they're very vague in general.

So if one person is prepared to take a chance on testing the eligibility then I'm prepared to give away the self-study Rapid Read Thai course (worth ฿12,000) in return.

If your application is successful then there will be a fee for the tutor to guide you through the course and/or follow up with the first-year University of Washington conversational course, Everyday Thai for Beginners.

Any takers?
