Hi everyone.

I went to the DLT in Bang Chak a few days ago to convert my home license to a Thai driving license. I got a queue and was sent back home. Before leaving I asked the officer if I have to do the test anytime at home and return with the printed result on 1 July at 08:00 and he just nodded. 🧐

When I try to do my convert test on the DLT website it just says “Coming soon”.

So my question is: do I need to do the test on 1 July at 08:00 online at home then go back to the DLT office on a later date whenever I want? Or do I have to go there in person on the given date and do the test there?

Thank you.

it’s not really visa related but wondering if anyone has experience getting a thai drivers license. specifically motorbike.

i know the correct channel to do so however all appointments at the department of transport are taken until december. i’ve heard of schools with which you can sit the test so an appointment with the transport department isn’t necessary.

does anyone have recommendations in bangkok? i’m time orientated as i only have 2 weeks to do it for various reasons. cheers!

I did my drinving license 2 years ago on a tourist visa (still have tourist) and wanted to get the renewal done for the 5 year one so i can get an IDP. They say with a tourist visa you can only extend for another 2 years, not 5 - therefore they wont give an IDP. Anz idea on how i can get an IDP from thailand with a tourist visa? And if not, any idea which visa would be fast to acquire so i can make an IDP? Thanks

For your reference - I was able to open account at ttb Bank.

Following documents were requested:

- Passport

- Thai Driving License

- E-Visa

- Translated Working Contract from Homecountry

- Lease Agreement

- Certificate of Residence

- Tabien Baan Copy with signature from my landlord

I think these are the general requirements of the bank, which should apply to any branch. So you can just walk in any branch, in case they haven’t heard about DTV just tell them to call their headquarter for more information.

Google told me that my International Drivers Permit and UK License can cover me for 1 year driving in Thailand.

I have the DTV, so does that 1 year cover renew every time I re-enter Thailand after the 180 days of the DTV?

I’m getting my Thai drivers license and actually want to know all the rules, even if they aren’t followed universally. I have a few pages of these and questions, but I will start here with this page first.

What is “drive either side“ and “end of restriction”?

This being Facebook, I know some of you good people will start arguing with each other. I hold you to high standards, so be funny if you must fight and if you are on the receiving end please don’t get too upset.

I am about to apply for my Thai driving license, my question is do I need a certificate of residence from immigration as it says in the transport office or will my blue book and condo deeds be ok. There was no one available to ask. Thank in advance
