There is only one way now to get a DTV and that is by emailed PDF.

Since January 1st this year all embassies and consulates use the online evisa system.

Prior to January some embassies and consulates were affixing stickers which is why you see some mention of them.

You got a retirement extension already? Why do you need an agent?

Depends on the reason. For marriage there is no alternative other than single entry (and you get yearly extensions).

For retirement you can get a Non OA which is a year long multiple entry visa.

It’s all done online but routes to the consulate that covers where you live.

With an OA visa you shouldn’t have any issues. That said some bank managers just don’t like opening accounts for US citizens. The paperwork for compliance is horrendous.

Non US citizens is about 2 or 3 bits of paper. For US citizens about 20+
