I posted a few questions here quite a while ago. As it usually goes in groups like this: I got a lot of genuinely helpful and solid replies — and of course a few… very confident ones 😉
Overall though: great group, thanks a lot, especially to those who also reached out privately with useful tips.
That’s why I’m posting this not anonymously. If anyone has follow-up questions, feel free to message me privately — just like I did back then. I didn’t follow every single suggestion, but I did apply several of them.
Quick update on the visa process, as this seems to be relevant for many:
I submitted my application in Hanoi on Thursday at noon and received the approval email about two hours ago.
👉 Thai E-Visa DTV approved.
Important detail: no follow-up questions at all. No additional documents, no back and forth.
The status already changed to “Pending Approval” on Friday, and after that it simply went through.
Timeline wise:
Thursday submission → Friday working day → Monday working day → approved today.
Whether you count Thursday or not — in total it was around 4 working days in Hanoi.
Honestly: super smooth and very easy process.
For full transparency — before any unnecessary comments come up 😉
I did this through an agency.
Total cost: around €500, including visa + agency fee. That’s it.
Four working days later, DTV approved.
Of course, everyone can (and should) decide for themselves whether they want to do everything on their own.
For me personally, those few hundred euros were 100% worth it — saving time, stress, and potentially extra days in the country.
I just arrived from Taipei to Chiang Mai 12/13/26 11:00.
The airport was not crowded.
Immigration had many officers waiting for us.
I showed the officer my DTV Visa stapled in the passport.
He asked no questions, smiled and said “ Welcome to Thailand."
I checked my passport and was correctly stamped in for 180 days.
NOTE: there was a typed document in multiple languages pasted on the immigration window saying, “Please show your hotel or address where you will be staying".
Remember this is one of the "3 Proofs"that we hear about. I was not asked but I had a reservation for a $4 hotel.
I will be travelling to Thailand on January 7th 2026 for 3 weeks. I was in thailand for 2 weeks in April with a brief visit to Vietnam then back to Thailand for 4 days. Do you think i need a visa. Im a uk citizen with uk passport

I got my DTV 1 year ago, while I was living in Thailand, but now I am moving to live in Japan, when I got my DTV it was the Muay Thai one, so now that I will not be in a Muay Thai Gym anymore, living in Japan, if I go as a tourist for a Week in Thailand, I would be going as a DTV Visa or a Tourist Visa? If as a DTV, since I am not in Muay Thai School anymore, there will be something wrong? How does it work? Thank you so much!

Last year I entered Thailand on 24 December 2024 and stayed for about 40 days . Left to visit Siem Reap and Kuala Lumpur for a week then came back to Phuket for about two weeks ( first entry on visa exemption of 2025). After left back to my home country of Romania for two weeks , then Istanbul, Dubai , Cairo and back to Thailand for another week( second entrance on visa exemption for 2025) . Mid March I returned home to Romania got my USA work visa and stayed in America to work from April to December. Now my plan is to bring my parents to SE Asia . We will be in Vietnam for a week but would like
to fly to Thailand on 31st of December for New Years Eve( it would technically be a third entrance in 2025, but with an almost 9 month pause between this and the last entrance) . Do you guys think it would be an issue , should I wait until it’s technically 2026 the fly into Thailand. Overall I have spent probably less than 60 days this year in Thailand .
