Renting an apartment out classifies you as a digital nomad? Jeez they really are loose on this one.

@Ray ****
I don’t think he’s a digital nomad

it’s pretty easy to obtain though.

And not all digital nomads are influencers. I agree, the latter are knobs. They are cats in real life but on social they are just blah.

That being said, how British is Thailand going to turn do you think? Seems like it’s a British thing right now the DTV, hoping people who come and not wanting to bring their passive aggressive life’s here. Just a thought.. 🫡

That’s good. It means not every man and their dog will be coming into Thailand. Leaves it for people who have a bit of motivation.

construction managers often have to be on site. Hence my question. It’s odd seeing that profession living 12 hours away in a different country.

Pull your head out of the dust David, many people would question the same.

A construction manager in the U.K. coming to Thailand? That’s a first I’ve heard in terms of a “digital nomads” role overseas. Wouldn’t you have to be on site? Isn’t Thailand a bit far away?

the economy is the focus as mentioned. Tourism helps but it’s not widespread. Thailand is acting desperately right now hence the 60 days on arrival and the DTV. It’s easy. If Thailand’s economy was going better or it had other reliance, it could be different.

My point is, tourism isn’t the god send many foreigners think it is.

Get the DTV while it’s fresh and easy I say! Although it is just a glorified tourist visa lol

everyone knows it’s too easy. That conversation has been a hot topic since it’s release. If you haven’t been part of that conversation or don’t understand it, I can’t help you. But compared to other visas it’s easy and there are concerns about who is applying etc.

I can’t spell it out for you.

As for your comments “salty” etc, well that shows a typical inner anger if you must quickly turn to unfounded and incorrect assumptions. Chill. This is an adult conversation. I’ve been here a while, personally the DTV visas doesn’t affect me at all, but it’s in my interest to follow this sort of thing in Thailand and Asia.

I’ll leave it there. But I’m sure you’ll comment again. Best

it’s actually to improve its economy in other ways. Tourism is regarded as the low hanging fruit, easy, but doesn’t spread nationwide, only in hotspots.

Any government needs stability, Thailand does after the political chaos, Shinawatra return etc.

But that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t change or revoke any previous policy. Thailand has shown it will make knee jerk decisions in the past.

As said, the brief information in providing is unique, there are officials concerned on the DTV visa. That’s all can say. So it’s a warning that it may not last forever. If it attracts the right people for Thailand, let’s hope it does.
