I'll be 50 in September. I have a pension from the U.S. military. However, I still dabble online and do webdev stuff and what not. I'm also considering taking Thai language classes. I could apply for the retirement "O" visa, but I don't want to be limited to not being able to work. Plus the 5 year length of visa is appealing. I have no problems leaving and coming back every 6 months. Hence why the DTV is appealing to me.

I'm under 50 still got 10 years to go. Unmarried and I'm not in any hurry. I do a lot of charity work mostly behind the scenes. It allow me to continue to do what I do and also live in a place that I've called home for nearly two decades. Still kind of waiting to see what's what.

I’m Thai born and my hubby is Australian. I’m applying for the DTV for him as even though we’ve been married over 30 years applying for a visa for him as my husband is so hard! We raised our family in Australia and now that we are empty nesters we will base ourselves here. Cost of living, accommodation, weather, social life and lifestyle are all why we are back here. Happy to chat further

may I ask, what difficulties did you encounter when applying for a visa?

I need to know how the timing of it and extension works. if its 180 days per year or visa with one 180 extension then can I fly out on sept 1st, stay 180 days and extend 180days and when that extension runs out how long do I have to wait to come back if I time it so its another new year?

@Eric ******
DTV extension or border bounce

@Graham *****
what’s this mean? Seems like only do 60 days at a time with 2x border crossings per yr? (USA citizen)

@Eric ******
You wouldn't pay for 10k for an extension when you can border bounce and get a new 6 month entry stamp would you?

Edit - I've now seen the MFA video and can correct this as he confirmed the one time 180 day extension per entry will be 1900B just like other extensions
