Have these people got something to hide? It’s astonishing how many new “expats” are coming to Thailand and yet they don’t dare reveal their name.

Partly because the DTV has been over applied for, so many trying to rig the system, some have got through and are not really remote workers. There have been thousands of rejections, and as you can see in some of these groups, there are DTV holders and wannabe's who simply don't listen to others with more advice. They think they know it all after spending a short or little time in Thailand.

DTV is a tourist visa that is only losing its credibility because of how many people are getting it and the decline of tourism numbers and behaviour in recent years.

research more. There have been many accounts that have been froze and not applicable for upgrades or continuation because of their visa status under DTV.

You are posting as an anonymous. How do we know you’re legitimate? Also, DTV holders are essentially long term tourists so it’s difficult to do so without a proper agent.

Even then, the banks are closing DTV holder accounts so it’s not even about opening one, it’s about keeping one.

there are expert people leaving because Thailand does feel like anyone can stay here long term now. There’s more trouble, more unruly visitors, prices increasing, and for the first time I’ve ever seen in 14 years, Thai people are actually getting tired of expats now.

Prior, you knew only legitimate people would be working and living in Thailand. This made the community more unique and likely more charming to an extent.

That said it makes sense for Thailand to launch this visa. It was needed to stay with the times.
