Hello dear community members. I am Polish/Belgian (BE passport) and 26yo, I am planning to apply for DTV - soft power (long term muay thai course). I train genuinely so it really suits me. I got 500k+ which I intentionally deposited 4 months ago for the application. I would ask for advice from experienced community members. When seeing all the rejections in Vietnam (where I was planning to apply) I get very much worried. The owner of the gym I train at said she will help me with the application and needed course paperwork. If vietnam has gone bad where should I apply from. Any tips/insights from veterans or people that applied with similar conditions to mine are SO welcome and will be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, dear friends.

Does it make sense to apply both muay thai and cooking class for DTV? Does it increase the chance of approval?

Thank you

DTV: Muay Thai/Soft Power Approved on April 14!!

Honestly surprised by the update today since most offices should be closed this week. I expected to wait another 1-2 weeks for an interview update, but received the approval email instead without even having an interview. I have also seen posts where some people were approved in less than a week with no interviews, so it might be worth checking out Laos if there are people considering Vietnam, Indonesia, or Laos!

Submitted my application in Vientiane, Laos!

1. Application sent April 5

2. Visa fee submitted in-person April 7

3. Pending approval April 8

4. Approved April 14

Excited to head back this weekend~ ✈️

Soft power requirements

Hey everyone—quick question about the DTV under the soft power category:

If you’re enrolled in a course (like Muay Thai, cooking etc.), what happens when that course ends? Do you need to immediately enroll in another one to stay compliant? And if you leave Thailand after your course ends, do you need to already be enrolled in a new course before re-entering?

Trying to understand how strict immigration is about continuous enrollment and whether there’s any grace period. Appreciate any real experiences or up-to-date info—thanks!

Hello everybody, i have a question and I'm hoping you guys can help me with my expectations.

I am a 40 year old war veteran who got wounded during a mission in Afghanistan. Due to that I have a disability pension, funded by the government, of €3500,- monthly (steady income). I have about €25000,- in savings (sitting in my bank account for almost a year). I want to participate in Muay Thai classes for 6 months (the soft power route) But due to my injury i'm not capable of doing more than 2 lessons a week.

If i can find a Muay Thai boxing school who will help me and provide me with an acceptance letter for these few lessons I will participate in weekly, do you think my application for a DTV will be accepted? And in which city is it best for me to apply? I'm in the Netherlands now, but I heard that Den Haag is not that easy.

Thank you.

Hello fellow nomads! 👋

I’d really appreciate some words of advice:)

First a little background info (feel free to skip😅):

I originally planned to move straight to Bangkok and apply for the DTV in Hanoi. But after arriving here about a month ago, I realized it might not be the best idea to commit to Bangkok without ever having been there. So I planned to spend 2–3 months in Bangkok first and then decide whether I prefer Bangkok or Vietnam.

However, I’ve now found out that my line of work (prop firm trading) is not allowed in Vietnam. So that leaves Thailand/Bangkok as the only option since I'm not interested in other countries at the moment.

________________________________________________________

Current plan:

I'm flying to Da Nang on the 12th and I'm planning to stay there until the 15th of May (as of now). I'm planning to apply for the DTV via the Soft Power route. I’m not sure yet whether to choose Muay Thai or a cooking class, as I do genuinely intend to participate in the course (unlike some, from what I've read😅).

I also saw that it’s possible to apply for the DTV Soft Power route through a language (and culture study) course. I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with that, as I plan to start learning Thai ASAP. But if this has a higher rejection rate I would pass on it. So I would like to hear your thoughts on that.

Secondly, does Hanoi really have the lowest rejection rate (in Vietnam)? Or is this just fairy tales.. Asking because like I said I did initially plan to apply here, but now due to plans unexpectedly changing, I will apply in Da Nang as it is more convenient. However if it's true I will just go back to Hanoi, to apply here.

And lastly, I could see that a IO could imply that I'm "abusing" the DTV Visa since I've never been there yet (I'm saying this because I've seen rejection posts, while allegedly, every piece of documentation was provided correctly). So would it be better to visit, before applying?

I hope I didn't bore you with my extensive writing😅

Hello, I am trying to extend my DTV visa and they are requiring a letter from the ministry of education. My muay thai gym is unsure how to obtain this form. Does anyone have advice?
