DTV rejection reasons can be categorized into several key areas. Here are the most common reasons:
- Financial Documentation Issues
- Insufficient or Inconsistent Financial Proof: Showing a bank balance below the required 500,000 THB or having sudden large deposits that raise suspicions about the genuineness of your financial stability.
- Parking Money: A large deposit into your account within 3 months of applying, with no history of maintaining that balance, accounting for about 40% of rejections.
- Wrong Account Type: Using a business or LLC account instead of a personal account, which can lead to rejection if not corrected.
- Employment and Freelance Documentation
- Inadequate Employment or Freelance Documentation: Insufficient proof of remote work or freelance activity, accounting for about 25% of rejections. This includes vague employment letters, lack of client contracts, or insufficient freelance portfolios.
- Application and Document Issues
- Incomplete Application: Missing or mismatched documents, such as a required document being absent, expired, or having a name that doesn't match your passport.
- Wrong Visa Category Selection: Applying under the wrong DTV category, such as remote work vs soft power activities.
- Other Reasons
- Unexplained Cancellations: This accounts for about 63% of validated rejection causes, although it's only discussed about 18% of the time in applicant forums.
- Embassy Jurisdiction Issues: Applying at the wrong embassy or not meeting specific embassy requirements ¹ ².
It's essential to carefully review the rejection letter and identify the root cause of the rejection. Simply reapplying with the same documents or switching embassies without addressing the underlying issue is unlikely to succeed. Take the time to fix the problem, and then reapply with a stronger application.
I’m leaving Thailand to go to Hong Kong tomorrow and will return some time next week. As I understand, I don’t need a re entry permit, and may be asked for proof of funds & to show a copy of my DTV certificate.
Is there anything else I should be aware of/bring with me?
Honestly surprised by the update today since most offices should be closed this week. I expected to wait another 1-2 weeks for an interview update, but received the approval email instead without even having an interview. I have also seen posts where some people were approved in less than a week with no interviews, so it might be worth checking out Laos if there are people considering Vietnam, Indonesia, or Laos!
Hi, My yearly visa expires in July, if they will reduce the 60 days exemption to 30, I'll go abroad to apply for a tourist visa. Where is currently the best - fastest place to go and apply? Vientiane? Penang? Or other?
Hello everybody, i have a question and I'm hoping you guys can help me with my expectations.
I am a 40 year old war veteran who got wounded during a mission in Afghanistan. Due to that I have a disability pension, funded by the government, of €3500,- monthly (steady income). I have about €25000,- in savings (sitting in my bank account for almost a year). I want to participate in Muay Thai classes for 6 months (the soft power route) But due to my injury i'm not capable of doing more than 2 lessons a week.
If i can find a Muay Thai boxing school who will help me and provide me with an acceptance letter for these few lessons I will participate in weekly, do you think my application for a DTV will be accepted? And in which city is it best for me to apply? I'm in the Netherlands now, but I heard that Den Haag is not that easy.
Getting ready to move to Thailand and really needed help with my Visa situation. Don’t really know where to start. I’m currently in the states and plan to come June 6 since my lease is up. I won’t have had the 16k in my account for 3 months yet to apply for the dtv visa. Anyone can point me in the direction of an agent who can assist me with the transition to come to Thailand. I would like to be in Bangkok. My income will be my VA monthly payment. To include my retirement from my job.
Border bouncing... I have been in and out many times with my DTV and never any questions about my stay or request for extra documents. Stays have always been relatively short though and weeks were spent out of the country. Current visit is going to be close to the 180 days, and then I would like to fly into KUL, stay just one night, and fly back in the following day. Any one had any issues with a next day border bounce, any scrutiny?
My last entry to Bangkok was on October 5, 2025. Tm30 done. I submitted the TM47 on December 25, 2025 at the immigration office, valid until March 24, 2026. I have not left Thailand since then. I have a flight on April 2, 2026.2 days ago I submitted the TM47 online. rejected. contact immigration office. What could be the reason? I don't understand
