The kl embassy is fine. The staff are all good and not unhelpful, but, if your paperwork isn't in order then you don't get the visa. The link Robert poster is clear and has a check list. You need the check list. Remember to book an appointment to submit and one to collect.

When you say tourist visa, do you mean 60 day (extendable) that takes a whole page in your passport or did you enter on visa exempt 30 days with just an ink stamp?

 note visa collection. Maybe you don't need it. The guys on the gate are pretty friendly, I suppose if you have the receipt they'd probably let you in.
