I am just looking into DTV visa for heading to Thailand in September.

My initial plan is sign up to a cooking course for 12 months (Infusion koh Samui).

I am a teacher though so longer term I will start teaching online.

Am I best to set up online teaching before I go? Has anyone changed their reason for DTV after 6/12 months?

Sorry if these questions seem obvious, I have been googling like mad but then found this page so thought someone might have actual experience!

I am a solo mother to triplet boys (age 4) and currently also teaching in London while raising them here. So my life is really full on at the moment (hence wanting a calmer life in Thailand!). This is why I would like to start by learning Thai cooking for us as a family and have a calm few months before getting back into teaching for income.

Thanks in advance:)

Has anyone recently applied for a non immigrant b visa for teaching in Vientiane? My school has never been through the process before so we're figuring it out together and it's hard to find clear information online. The system changed earlier this year which is why I'd like to hear from people who've done it recently please. 🙏

I believe I need to make an appointment online and then arrive 24 hours before my appointment so that I can upload my Laos arrival card along with all the other paper work (which i already have prepared) Can anyone confirm that arriving 24 hours before my appointment is necessary?

And does it really take 5- 15 days? How long did you have to wait?

I imagined moving things online would make the process more efficient and it used to only take 2-3 days, so the mention of 5-15 days surprised me!

Any insight, tips and recent experiences would be very much appreiated, thanks! 🙏

If I am offered a teaching job in Thailand do I need to leave the country to apply for the Visa? A school has told me that I will need to go to Laos, specifically to apply. They also told me I need to pay for the Visa and Permit myself and it will be reimbursed over time, can anyone tell me if this is normal and what the average cost would be overall? Thank you

Hello, I am planning to relocate to Thailand with my partner and would like to obtain a five-year DTV based on soft skills. I intend to pursue online education while developing culinary skills. (I would likento find remote work after I graduate) My boyfriend plans to secure a teaching position after six months of exploring our desired location. Can we both enter on a soft DTV and subsequently find employment as teachers, or will he need to apply for a work visa following the expiration of a tourist or education visa?

I also see that maybe if I have a DTV he may be able to apply to one afterwards. I want to ensure we won't have to do so many runs if he can help it. I know the DTV is new butbif anyone has experience with this please comment. Any advice is welcome but please be kind 😇

Hi there, I'm an Australian Teacher here on an non-imm B visa through the school I work at. I've picked up some other contract/consulting work not related to teaching through a company in Thailand and I'm curious about the scope for me to do this work on my non-B visa?

I've been dating my Thai girlfriend for 10+ years, and I'd like to stay in Thailand as often and long as possible until she can retire from her job. I don't know if a spouse / marriage visa is easy or fast to get once you've been seeing each other a long time, but I'd like to work also, because I'd prefer to contribute to the society in which I live, and my spinal damage has kept me out of the workforce for a long time (I'm still focused on musculoskeletal rehab, but I'm ready to do something).

I'm 53 and have done over 130 jobs in my life, everything from labouring and technical work through to writing business advice / consulting and fairly high end software sales / account management ... I've done 20 years combined formal and informal tertiary level study & research, though never gained an undergrad degree (I was mistaken by medical students to be a fully qualified doctor, a senior professor thought I was a PhD, and a PhD candidate thought I was a professor) ... and so far as my comprehension of English goes, I feel like I'm one of the last of the generations who really understands the language properly (not through formal training so much as the fact that I'm a writer and I spend a great deal of time thinking about the meaning of things). I feel like I would be a great teacher / tutor for intermediate and advanced students of English as a second language, to help them understand subtleties and confusing parts of English in various contexts from slang and poetry through to technical jargon & the intentionally deceptive nature of "legalese" and other such matters.

How should I approach this problem of getting a visa to stay longer in the shortest possible time, I've already used up one stay of 60 days, and now I'm into my 2nd stay for this year, expiring August 2nd.

What's the best opportunities following this for someone like myself to find a sponsor for switching to work or digital nomad visa? Or something of that nature?

Any advice or contacts etc?

When applying for a non-immigration (teaching) visa, I have been told that the No Objection Certificate to travel that I get from my current overseas school needs to include working position and salary at my new school in Thailand. Can anyone please confirm this?

Hi, I have another question! I have a job offer for English teaching in Thailand now :D. I need to bring a criminal check paper and a notarized copy of my degree. How do I get the criminal check document considering I'm American but currently living abroad in Iceland? Do I go to the American embassy here?

Also, what does a notarized copy of a degree mean? Is it just an official, unopened transcript from my university (which is also in America)?
