Dtv experience Nepal

Hello everyone. Thanks for being super helpful in my DTV journey - so I wanted to share mine for others

I did my dtv in Nepal because I have always wanted to visit this country.. Not many experiences here so far so that part was a bit less clear but the process itself was smooth other than my natural tendency for anxiety 🙂

I did soft power using Discover Thai nature which is a program I’m really interested in and they have been incredibly helpful.

Nepali embassy was easy to reach via phone and supportive in my preparation . I have a US passport and I could apply in Nepal, but I think not every country is allowed so I recommend you check by calling

The biggest complication compared to other countries was that Nepal embassy asks plane tickets into and out of the country as well as accommodation booking. I attached these to my documents without being asked for extra documents because I already knew from calling. The other complication is that they do not accept online payment - so you must get a manager’s cheque at IME bank using the QR code you get when you finish your application. It costs ₹50,000 to apply here. Then you must take the cheque to the embassy for application to be complete.

I applied on November 17 Monday. November 21st, Friday I got an email asking me to come in for an interview on November 24, Monday.

Interview was mostly about finances, but I was happy to share my intentions, short-term and long-term in Thailand. I was pretty nervous- but that’s my anxious nature 🙂 overall staff in Nepali embassy both Thai and Nepali were lovely.

I got my approval in less than two hours.

I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and live in Thailand. Good luck to everyone aiming for the same.

For the LA consulate, has anyone who's gotten approved for the DTV, what did you use for the "place of issue" and "city of birth". I've searched around and got mixed answers. Some say for the place of issue use USA, United States, or United States Department of State. For city of birth some say use the state as in the passport and others say both city and state. Should you use city [space] state, ex Seattle Washington or just stick with the state (as seen on the passport) even though it asks for the city? Any advice would be appreciated.

Update: Thanks everyone. For other people's reference this worked for me.

City of Birth: I put down the state as my passport only shows the state

Place of Issue: United States

Hi 👋🏾 What are the advantages to getting a multi entry tourist visa vs. visa on arrival? I would still have to leave every 60 (or 90 w/extension) days, right? I have US passport. Thx.

I'm currently in Thailand on edu visa learning Thai using one of two of my passports. The passport is only valid for a year. I'm planning to fly to Indonesia to apply for DTV with my other passport, my USA passport. Is this possible?

Hello all,

I just wanted to confirm please 🙏🏾

For a person with a US passport if they arrive in Thailand by air (June 03) they get 30 days for that entry and can extend for an additional 30 days at an immigration office (we are in Chiang Mai)

When the 30 day extension expires they will need to leave Thailand for a border run is that still correct?

Also any suggestions for border runs would also be appreciated I have not done one in a long time so I am not sure what her options are 🙏🏾

Thank you in advance 🙏🏾

I am starting "the process" to live full-time in Thailand.

I plan to:

1. arrive in Thailand from the US in June,

2. stay two months with a friend near Udon Thani,

3. Go back to US for August to finish up with getting a house caretaker.

4.In September, Return to Thailand for a long time.

Question?......

For step 1 should I still arrive in a US Pasport and apply for an LTRVisa while Im there?👀

OR Apply now for ?something? on their website before step 1?👀

I don't have the 800k yet, but pull over 100k baht/mo pension. They should let me open an account right? Ill have the 800k easily in less than a year.

I appreciate any information on this. Thanks.

I applied for a DTV remote worker visa in Tokyo with a US passport, with all the required documents and prerequisites, and was given a multiple entry tourist visa instead, valid for six months. Do I have to wait for the METV to expire before applying again for the DTV soft power through vietnam?

When applying for the DTV online it asks for my first name and last name. From traveling in the past, I understand that for some countries you need to put both your first and middle name in the first name space. I’m trying to figure out if I need to do that for this visa application. Also if I do put my first and middle name in the first name space, it doesn’t allow me to put a space in between the names. Will this be an issue?

I’m hoping to hear from somebody who has already been granted the visa, who has a first and middle name, and applyed with a United States passport. What did you do and were there any issues?

Also, do they require a specific amount of income each month to grant you the visa or is it just a lump sum you need in savings?

I work as an independent contractor. I’d also appreciate any advice on how to apply when I both have my own buisness and also work for outside companies?

Thanks!

Hi - I have a couple questions regarding my Destination Thailand Visa as my US passport is expiring in January 2026.

-Is my understanding correct that I will need to show my new passport along with the old passport (or copy of old passport) that the DTV was approved for? Is there a way to transfer the DTV to the new passport?

-When entering Thailand with the DTV, will they reject entry if my old passport has less than 6 months remaining (I’m working on renewing my passport, but unsure how long it will take)?

Thanks in advance.
