In a few days I will return to my home country AUSTRALIA to apply for ED Visa for Adv. Thai Lang. course.

I will be returning to Thailand flying from SYD-SIN-USM Samui.

- Do I require an airline ticket indicating departure from Thailand?

- Do I require proof of funds in cash (and how much)?

- Any other requirements/advice?

Background info:

- Australian passport

- Been in Thailand since Sep. 2017 (multiple TR and 1x ED visa)

Thank you in advance for any advice! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for an ED Visa from Australia for an Advanced Thai Language course, you need to ensure you have an airline ticket indicating your departure from Thailand and proof of funds totaling at least 20,000 THB or equivalent in cash. It's also advisable to have proof of lodging, although this may not always be requested. Ensure these documents are in order before your flight to avoid any issues.

You will need 20,000 thb or equivalent in ANY currency, but it must be cash. There are not ATMs before passport control, so you must have it when you get off the plane. You should have a ticket (air or bus) out of the country (leaving before your visa expires), and you should also have proof of lodging. In 5 years, I've never been asked for proof of lodging, but I've been asked once for proof of departure.

No. A return ticket isn't required for an ED visa acquired from a consulate in Australia.

You will need proof of funds to get the visa but NOT cash at thai imm when you arrive.

The 20k at passport control is for Tourists, VOA and visa exempt. Not ED B or O visas.
