Asking for a friend: she is from Switzerland, married to a Thai national. She has to renew the marriage visa in March 2026. In June her passport expires, she was told that she has to re-apply for the marriage visa for the new passport.

We were wondering why they cannot just transfer the visa she will get in march on the new passport.

Thought to check here.

Thank you

Hello group, does the DTV is an actual 'paper stamp' in the physical passport?

> Wondering since my current passport has like 18months validity (i know i am eligible) but wondering if the DTV would just 'expire' as the passsports expires.

Overstay for children advice:

We’ve run into a bit of logistical situation regarding our 4yo passport- his passport just passed the 6 month validity mark (meaning still valid, but only 5.5 months left) and we were planning on leaving this week, however we were just notified that although the country we are going to only requires 3 months of validity, the airline requires 6 months and can refuse boarding. So we are left with 2 options- apply for emergency passport or apply for a new passport but my son will then be overstaying his time in Thailand. My husband still has 3 weeks left on his 30 day extension, and myself and the youngest could technically do a visa run, so it would only be the 4year old that is “overstaying”. The processing time at the US embassy is roughly 3 weeks so we can assume he’ll be around 3 weeks overstaying, give or take a week or so. Has anyone had experience with this? Will we be charged the 500baht/day for his overstaying or is that only charged to adults?

Thank you for the help!

I have an OA retirement visa with one extension. My question is: the next time I go for an extension, my passport will have a validity of 11 months and 2 weeks. For example: visa expires (hypothetically) 1 Jan 2027. Passport expires 15 December 2027. Is it possible to extend the OA visa in January 2027 for less than 365 days and apply for a new passport sometime later in the year and transfer the OA to the new passport. Or does the passport need to have full 365 days validity? I have all the proper documentation, including insurance, money in the bank, etc, every thing legal and above board.

I would like to apply for non-o retirement visa while I will be in Vientiane Laos...

Before it was stating that passport should have 6 months validity when you will get in thailand and I now Isee some other place stating that I need 1 year validity...

Is there any body knows if 6 months validity could be ok to qualify for the non-o visa over 50 year old?

Question:

I’m here on a retirement visa (Non OA).

I get a renewal visa (1 yr) on January 5th of 2026.

My US passport expires on February 2027.

I have recently read on the Thai immigration site and checked with AI that if on a retirement visa the person must have 18 months remaining on the passport to get an annual visa extension.

I will only have about 13 months on my current passport when I submit for my January 5th 2026 visa renewal.

What is the experience of others here?

Arrived Bangkok a few days ago with a new DTV Visa issued in Vancouver.

Thirty Seconds until six month entry stamp. Zero Questions. Female IO.

I am curious. Despite some people getting thouroughly questioned upon entry, has anyone had FIRST HAND experience of actually getting rejected from entry at the border with a DTV Visa, or are these concerns unwarranted?

Also does anyone getting thoroughly questioned or verified come from what might be labeled a first world country or travel on a top tier passport (ie. Western Europe, Five Eyes Nation, Japan/S Korea…

And if questioned thoroughly, or asked for extra information, was your visa issued in Laos or Vietnam?

Curious if there are any patterns of inquiry.

(Please keep this thread kind. 🙏🏼)
