TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired whether Kuala Lumpur would accept a scanned and emailed WP3 for an initial Non-B visa focused on employment. Based on the comments, it's suggested that KL typically has a reputation for being strict, and an original WP3 is usually recommended. However, there are conflicting reports, as one user claimed KL accepted an emailed WP3 during their recent visit. The discussion also touches on the differences in processing between Kuala Lumpur and Penang, where obtaining a one-year multi-entry Non-B visa is more feasible, provided certain work permit conditions are met.

Got the non b. Easy enough. Even got a taxi from outside the gates to the airport and through immigration at 15.30

Out of interest, has anyone recently got a one year multi entry non b (employment) from anywhere other than Penang?

, yep :/ in Penang without a work permit with at least 8 months on it OR with just a WP3 you can only get a single entry Non-B.

What a lot of people do is; get the single entry Non-B with the WP3, then come back get their work permit, and three months later go to get the year-long, multi-entry Non-B.

Good to know, my sister will have such a situation in a few month and cannot extend wp in time because she's abroad for a few months....

This is my initial application so gotta 3 month visa with wp3. Was all very easy and quick. Out at 9.50. It looked pretty quiet there today. I'm off to Penang in Jan for my 12 month visa. I'm told that only Penang offer the one year non b employment visa. This info may of course be out of date or plain wrong. But today was a good day

And to get the WP Application accepted and stamped as a Receipt one has to show proof of leaving Thailand by sending copies of Exit stamp and Entrance Stamps (exiting Thailand and entering the neighbor country) to a Visa Agent to show to the LM officer.

Therefore, depending of how your local Labor Ministry office operates you could be out of the country getting your 90 day B Visa for 7 - 10 - 14 days.

The WP. 3 stamped as a Receipt can be gotten from most Labor Ministry offices same time as the Application BUT depending on the way a particular Labor Ministry operates - the Official Letter may be produced the same day as the WP Application and WP. 3 Receipt OR it can take up to a Week to get the letter.

Also in Penang to get a Single Entry B Visa 90 days - you must show the Original WP. 3 and the Official Original letter from the Labor Ministry. No computer generated Pdf copy sent by email allowed.

After checking several sources - at the Thai Consulate in Penang - to get the 12 month Multi Entry B Visa a person has to show a Work Permit and have 8 months left on the life of the WP. Plus all the other docs needed to get the 90 day B Visa as done before.

Not with just a wp3. I'm told that to get 1 yra you need 8 months available on your wp. Again, I'm open to learn as every day is a school day.

Same here. My experience is from a few years ago already. Applied in KL paid and was refused 2 days later. But they still kept the money (700 ringgit at the time) Took the bus to Penang the very same day and applied there with exact the same paperwork the day after and got the 1 year. Mind boggling.

They do issue non-B (sometimes) but mostly just a 3 month.... they're allergic on granting 1 year ones. Still happy to take your money though. Penang's much better.

KL can be a pain in the ... they have a bad reputation on being difficult, better make it an original. Why not go to Penang? KL only issues 3 month i believe as well.
