Approved DTV (Soft Power – Cooking School) from Kuala Lumpur Thai Embassy🇹🇭
First of all, thank you to everyone in this group for the advice shared, it really helped!!! But I would advise everyone to just apply elsewhere to save you from all the anxiety and stress. Even though I’m Malaysian, I have learned my lesson not to apply from KL again 🤣🤣
KL embassy requested an additional document: an acceptance letter issued by the Thai government. Many suggested reapplying elsewhere or notarising documents, but since most DTV cooking schools are privately owned and cannot issue such letters, I decided to explain the situation instead.
Huge thanks to Cookventure for providing a cover letter explaining they are a private cooking school and emailing the embassy directly, along with my own explanation that this is an industry-wide limitation. If anyone is looking for a cooking school in Chiang Mai, they’re a great option! Thankfully, the embassy accepted this and my visa was approved. My takeaway: if a requirement feels unreasonable, it’s okay to explain logically, politely, and respectfully.
My processing time was longer than usual. Despite advice not to follow up, I did so respectfully when it felt delayed. Email didn’t work, but the embassy’s official Facebook page did (“กงสุลไทย กัวลาลัมเปอร์“) (Not sure if all embassies have their own Fb page tho, might worth checking out!). They replied the next day both times (for document clarification and status update). Just be polite and give them time!
Timeline:
• Applied: 12 Dec
• Additional documents requested: 17 Dec (submitted 18 Dec)
• Follow-up with embassy: 29 Dec
• Pending approval: 30 Dec (morning)
• Approved: 30 Dec (afternoon)
Not sure if following up helped speeding things up or if it was coincidence, but it didn’t hurt 🤣🤣
Lastly, like many people here said, don’t let negative experiences stress you out too much. Even if they’re real, wait until you actually get rejected before panicking (just kidding 🤣). You won’t if you have all the documents they need!
Now I’m back in BKK! And no questions asked from officer as what many ppl here experienced as well. Happy new year everyone! ❤️❤️
My experience applying Non Immi O based on marriage thru e-Visa Thai Embassy Kuala Lumpur.
27th July - Submitted application
28th July - Thailand public holiday
29th July - Requested additional document, full pages of my passport cramp into PDF for less than 3MB
30th July - Pending document check
31st July - 4pm+- Pending approval
31st July - 5.53pm Approved
I’m actually quite surprised on fast approval, despite some people telling that Thai Embassy Kuala Lumpur is one of the hardest place for e-Visa applications
Again, millions of thanks for the advices and support given in here appreciate that 🙏🏻
I’m planning to apply for the DTV while I’m in Malaysia, at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. I will include all the required documents in my application.
However, I can’t stay in Kuala Lumpur for more than 10 days, as I need to return to Bangkok to take care of my cat.
Do you think 10 days is enough for the visa to be processed?
Also, should I apply online through the thaievisa.go.th platform, or directly at the embassy in KL?
I applied Tuesday, they asked for additional documents Friday late afternoon, I delivered yesterday afternoon, approval today!
NOTE:
They still require you to go to the embassy of the country, where your employers company is located to authenticate your contract + company's registration/business license.
DO THAT before you send the documents to the Thai Embassy and it save you time.
As this requirement was off their website, I thought the online process changed that - but no, they still require it!
The US embassy let me in without an upfront booked appointment, but I would not count on this.
I am positive, if I'd delivered the US Embassy authentication letter straight on Friday, I'd have the visa already on Monday.
I’m planning a visa trip to Kuala Lumpur for non-o retirement visa. Does this take 1 day to process? Does anybody have experience in this process and docs required?
Has anyone had any experience with getting a tourist visa with the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur lately? I'm trying to understand how many days it takes to process a tourist visa because I must book the dates to apply for the visa as well as to collect the passport. I will apply on a Friday but I'm unsure when I can book the collection day.
Went to Taipei recently and I could collect the passport on the same day as the application.
Hi! Anyone recently used the Thai Embassies in KL's online booking system? They literally only have one day left available this month!
I have emailed them to check if they only update these appointments every 14 days. I am hoping this is not true and that they actually have appointments more than that!
If you have recently experienced something different or know about how they work their appointments in KL I would love to know! Thanks!
