I was studying at Duke Language School when the policy changed. When I started, you could stay for a year. Around the end of 2024, the Ministry of Education changed the rules and required us to exit and apply for a second ED visa if we wanted to study after 6 months. This applied even to those of us started our ED visa before the policy changed. So, the school is being honest with you (unless something has changed again since I dealt with this).

Honestly the Comprehensible Thai YouTube channel did more for me than any teacher. I also took some classes at Duke, but listening to the horrible pronunciation and grammar of 12 other classmates is not how I wanted to spend my time. However, they also offer private lessons that cover the same curriculum. But their 9 courses only cover up to lower intermediate level, and that’s being generous. What they claim is advanced level definitely isn’t.

My friend was just applying and whenever he returned to the page where you put your DOB, it would change it by one day. He corrected it and when he went back, it changed it again. As long as he didn’t navigate to that page again after fixing it, it would show up correctly in the main application page. So there are definitely some glitches and it isn’t just reading passport data incorrectly.

Just be honest about where your funds came from and it might be fine. I knew someone that was doing soft power and transferring funds from their brokerage each month and that was enough to satisfy the request since they were showing the money was not earned illegally.

Was one month bank statement enough?

Did Hanoi require 6 month bank statement, or did you just choose to provide 6 months? I know they previously only required 1 month so I was wondering if it had changed. Thanks!

the person I knew did the affidavit at the US embassy. Here’s a link about it. I think with some googling about degrees and affidavits you might be able to find some more specific info. Good luck!
