I am self employed under a trust, and there are multiple people in it. The trust owns various rental properties of which I manage a few. The trust pays me as a family member which is not taxed. I can run my portion of the business online and on the phone- marketing, accounting, making and answering phone calls.
I don't have an employment letter but I can get proof that the trust exists and has assets.
I also have a personal stock portfolio with quite a bit of money in it.
My bank account meets the 500k requirement
I do also plan to study thai during my stay but I would like to travel around a little before I am locked down to one location.
Which documents should I submit or should I just go the soft power route?
Worcation: I have my own company, but it has not been operational for long. I am confident that my business will generate more profit soon, but so far turnover has been low.
I know that some embassies / consulates want to see a monthly salary, payslips, etc. In my case, this would not be applicable anyway, because I take dividends from my company instead of a monthly salary, e.g. one large dividend payment in the end of the year. I believe this is NOT going to be a problem, because, of course, many company directors simply live on dividends instead of monthly salaries.
The problem is that - as of now - turnover has been low. Which embassy or consulate has been happy to accept the following documents as sufficient proof for your remote work WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE TOTAL TURNOVER?
- Invoices
- Proof of incoming payments from clients (I could, for example, submit a couple of invoices AND proof of their payment)
- Email conversations with clients
- Portfolio / Website / LinkedIn Profile
- Samples of work
- Supplier contracts
- Company registration documents
I have ALL of the above and everything else that demonstrates that my company is registered, legit and operational, but I am worried that certain embassies will be focused on the TOTAL turnover. That is why I am looking for an embassy / consulate that has approved DTV’s BASED ON MORE RANDOM, INCOHERENT EVIDENCE without checking overall turnover.
PS: I am determined to go for workation, even though soft power might sound like the easier option in my case.
Just need some clarification with applying for a DTV using soft power Muay Thai. I am planning on applying from Ho Chi Minh and I heard that you still need to provide proof of income?! I am confused because why bother going down the soft power approach if I need work requirements anyway? Is it only HCMC that is like this?
I am applying for DTV remote workcation in Ho Chi Minh on March 7.
I meet the financial requirements, I have a remote job but I haven't begun yet so I cannot prove income and Ive been traveling for 4 months so there is no other income to provide. I can provide all information about the job, business, salary etc. and my boss is willing to produce any necessary documents. The website doesn't mention needing to submit proof of income but it seems many people are asked to. If I clearly explain start date, salary, position, business etc. is that enough?
If I have one bank account where I can show 500k in the last 6 months, and I receive my freelance income in the same account how can I prove income then, shall I apload same bank statements?
I will be using the Washington DC Thai embassy to apply for a 90-day Non-O visa soon after I retire at the end of May. One requirement is the following:
"Recent bank statement for the last three months showing the applicant's name and ending balance of no less than $30,000 or proof of monthly income of not less than $2,500/month) along with the current bank statement showing incoming income."
I will not have a $30k balance when I apply for the visa. And the monthly income shown in may bank account will be from my current employer (not SS and pension)
I’m a freelancer currently working with two main long-term clients, and I’m planning to apply for the DTV visa. I’d love some advice on a few questions:
1. I have over 500K in my bank account for more than 3 months. The account statement mostly shows incoming payments and almost no expenses, since I only use it to receive funds and occasionally transfer money to my investment account. In addition, I recently had a one-time payment from a third client for work I did outside Thailand. Does this kind of activity raise any issues, and do I need to provide documentation about that one-time job, or can it be ignored?
2. I’m tax-resident in Panama, where freelancers don’t need a registered company or specific documentation. I only have tax declarations from previous years. Is that usually acceptable for the DTV application?
3. Do I really need remote-work approval letters from all clients, or are there alternatives?
4. For translations: do all documents need to be translated into Thai? And are machine translations acceptable?
5. Since I’m applying as a freelancer (without a registered company), and I’m currently in Thailand, based on people’s experience which embassy tends to be the smoothest or least strict for DTV freelancer applications? Hanoi, Vientiane, or somewhere else?
