Does the DTV visa include dental procedures like braces, and is there a cost requirement?

Hello everyone, I’m seeking medical treatments to obtain a DTV and would like to know does it include dental procedures such as orthodontic treatments like braces? Does the total cost have to meet a specific amount? If so, any recommendations that will provide a treatment plan letter?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Diplomatic Visa for Treatment) does not typically cover dental procedures like orthodontics. While some comment threads mention that braces are often not recognized as medical treatments by embassies, there may be exceptions depending on the specific embassy. Individuals have reported success with treatments like Invisalign in some locations. It's advisable to check with dental clinics such as Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic for assistance regarding DTV for braces and to confirm current regulations.

Invisalign is ok 👍

Someone wrote that they got it through Invisalign in HCM, Vietnam.

Another person mentioned that they weren't approved for Invisalign in Singapore.

I guess it depends a lot on which embassy you use.

Where are you planning to apply?

Anonymous participant I think you can't apply from there. You could go to Vietnam for 1 week and apply from there, for example.

Braces are not considered medical treatment for most of the embassies. You can try but probably you will loose 10k baht

and your source to back up your statement is what? Multiple reports of successful DTV applications based on brace / Invisalign appointments.

Multiple reports of unsuccessful DTV on some embassies (Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, Netherlands, Spain...)

I have obtained DTV with medical treatment as I am suffering from type 2 diabetes. Before granting DTV, I was asked why do you apply DTV instead of Non O medical treatment visa? I said it is lifetime treatments. I have to travel there as doctor's treatment plans.

good luck, it was my first stop when looking for this visa .... Was quickly told at the hospital no dental work, as that is "maintenance" not surgical.

hospitals don’t issue visas. The only thing that matters is what is acceptable to the hundred odd Thai Embassy’s around the globe. With the possibility that each might have their own unique requirements.

hospitals write the letters that provide your "plan" which is what is needed to plan for dtv

Anecdotes do not make data. Your sample of a single hospital does not hold up in the light of the many others who have a DTV using dental work as a soft power option. You are positing a "Anecdotal Fallacy".
