I’m seeking advice or insights from anyone who may have gone through a similar situation.

I’ve been living and working in Thailand for the past 17 years as a university instructor. I’m a U.S. citizen and have held a valid work permit and visa throughout my time here.

Recently, I officially obtained Thai citizenship through my mother, who is Thai by birth. I now have my Thai National ID card and have submitted all necessary documents to my workplace so that my employment records are now under my Thai ID instead of my U.S. passport.

Here’s where I’m unsure:

My current work permit and visa (issued under my U.S. passport) are valid until October 2025. I asked my employer what I need to do about closing or canceling them, and they told me I don’t need to do anything—that I should just let them expire since I’m now legally Thai.

That doesn’t sound quite right to me. I feel like there should be some formal process to close out the old visa and work permit under my foreign passport. I’m worried that “doing nothing” might leave a loose end or even a negative mark in the immigration system, especially if I ever need to re-enter Thailand in the future using my U.S. passport (just hypothetically).

Has anyone here been through this process or have advice on what steps I should take? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to save your TDAC info for re-use? For regular re-entry its quite cumbersome to complete the whole form every time

I have obtained DTV in last year. My visa is sticker visa type. Now my passport is going to expire in coming December thus I would play new passport in my resident country. How do I transfer my dtv visa to New passport? TIA.

More of a nervous post. I'm going tomorrow for my non O marriage under consideration stamp. I've never heard of it and I've never been denied before. But what if it is denied? Do you just refile the paperwork? Or have to do a border run?

Someone told me they don't deny these for the marriage visas. Unless it's like a blatantly fake marriage or something.

When filing for the TDAC is the arrival date considered Day 1 or is Day 1 the day before arrival? Example: I arrive on July 3. Is July 1 the earliest I can submit for the card?

Hi everyone—I'm trying to better understand how Thailand handles timing between visas, especially now that the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is fully digital.

Suppose someone is in Thailand on a valid visa (like a retirement visa), then leaves the country to apply for a DTV (as required), and then comes back to Thailand *before*:

-The old visa expires, and

-The new DTV visa has been approved

Then later, the DTV is granted, while they are already back in Thailand.

Would they need to leave and re-enter to activate the DTV, even though it's already approved in the system?

Are there any official instructions or guidelines covering this situation?

Is this a new scenario now that visas are being issued online? I haven’t found much information on it yet. Appreciate any insights!

I am not sure if this is a “ thing” or not but I will mention it just in case. I just did my second 90 day report online after arriving back in Thailand on 31st December last year. I did my first report in person in March after multiple rejection of online submissions. Anyway 15 days before the due date of my second report I submitted on line last Sunday expecting to get a response on Monday morning. Monday morning came and went and no response. Tuesday morning came and went with no response and I had a bad feeling about the situation so I canceled my application and submitted a new one. Wednesday morning came and at 8-20am I received an approval email! Job done. I can’t prove that there is a problem if you submit on a weekend but I will make sure that I submit my next online report on a weekday just in case!
