✨ Question about the Soft Power DTV Visa (Thailand) ✨ — especially the courses that actually qualify.
I’ve seen that things like Muay Thai, Thai cooking, cultural training and even wellness or fitness courses are included, but I can’t seem to find an official list anywhere.
Also, I’m a bit confused about the medical route. I need some dental work done soon — but would that actually make me eligible for a 5-year DTV visa, even if the treatment only lasts around 6 weeks?
Ideally, I’d love to just do a yoga or fitness-related course, but I’m open to whatever works best for the visa requirements.
If anyone has gone through this process or knows a school / course that’s been accepted under the Soft Power DTV, please share! 🙏
Would really appreciate any tips, links, or firsthand experiences.
Just got a rejection notice from the Thai Embassy in Singapore.
I applied via the freelancer route - supplied all the documents necessary within the application form. My portfolio, my bank account showing 500,000 THB for 3 months.
I'm also a Singapore citizen applying.
I find it so weird that they didn't ask for more documents nor for an interview, but it just went from "Document Checking" > "Waiting for Approval" > "Rejected"
I'm trying to call them now to find out the reason. Should I head down to the embassy in person to ask for the reason for this 'ineligibility'?
Edit: Is there anything I can do about this now? Or just take the L and try applying from another country?
That $500 application fee hurts and I'm not sure if I would be willing to spend to try again even with Soft Power. It's ridiculous.
Final Edit:
I was just told by the embassy that I was deemed ineligible by the MFA HQ because I am a freelancer without a contracted income with a company. Kinda defeats the definition of ‘freelancer’ in my opinion, but it is what it is.
The staff also told me that things are becoming stricter and they’re approving less DTVs compared to the past.
For anyone else who is applying as a freelancer, just make sure you have yearly or permanent contracts with companies to show consistent income.
Well.. I guess I might either apply again through the soft power route or else just do visa runs every 2 months. Cheers to everyone that helped!
I'm new to this group. Last month I visited Thailand for a week and loved to stay for longer. I'm planning to apply for DTV.
I started my company in my country 3 months ago but the operations are yet to start. It is an online business and currently products are under development.
Am I eligible to apply for DTV? Do they ask for monthly revenues?
or Is it better to apply under soft power category for now?
I would like to know that even though I’m currently landed in Hanoi but I would like to apply DTV visa in Ho chi Min Thai embassy, is that eligible to apply ?
Am I eligible to apply for the DTV visa this year if I have already stayed in Thailand for more than 180 days this year using a combination of a visa exemption, visa extension, and a border run?
Hi, the Muay Thai visa, is my 17 year old son eligible or too young? Also, if he can do it, would I be granted a visa alongside him being his parent/legal guardian? Thanks for any advice.
Hello, I’m in Thailand on a tourist visa and I wish to apply for a DTV. Do I must return back to my home country to be able to apply ? Can I apply whist I’m in Thailand ?
Unfortunately I got email reply my visa application has been cancelled:
Documentary requirements not satisfied
May I check what is this meaning? My document is in problem or my criteria not meet?
Was anyone got the same reply? Could you please share your experience, I don’t know what was happening even they didn’t ask for additional documents and reject my application by the 6-7 working days.
