Can I apply for the Thailand Digital Nomad Visa with income from TikTok as a 19-year-old?

Apr 14, 2025
Sooo like… I’m 19, my only job is being on TikTok and I just found out y’all have a DIGITAL NOMAD VISA??

Quick question tho — can I get the Thailand DTV visa if I’m like… kinda famous on TikTok?

I don’t really have a *job-job* but I post dances, GRWMs, and daily vibes. I made like $400 last month so technically I’m a digital worker, right??

I just *really* need to leave my home country… the vibes are off, my ex still lives here, and I think I’m allergic to cold weather!

Do I have to like… prove I pay taxes or something? I’m kinda new to all this stuff but I’m a quick learner (unless it’s math)

Let me know if I can qualify pls

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 19-year-old TikTok user is inquiring about the eligibility for the Thailand Digital Nomad Visa based on their income, which they represent as earnings from social media. The conversation reveals skepticism about the individual's capability to qualify due to their age and insufficient income, with many commenters pointing out the need for 500,000 Baht in a bank account and the requirement to be at least 20 years old to apply. It is also highlighted that proof of income and tax documents are necessary, with commenters generally portraying the inquiry as unrealistic, and suggesting alternative paths to consider.

What matters is not what kind of business you do but whether or not you can do it remotely and have official documents that state your income (tax reports for example)

Whether its Tiktok, Crypto, Youtube or anything else.. It doesn't really matter as long as you have it under an umbrella of a company outside Thailand. That is what matters, and then obviously the specific requirements stated for the type of DTV you apply for

Yes as long as you have the income and savings.

And some agents make it easier from what some have said.

No one is “famous” on TikTok. It’s not a legit channel for information, it’s just freelance marketeers sharing content, which most regard as silly, pointless and a waste of time. But sure it has its audience.

Going by what you’ve said, you’re not eligible.

My advice, work and get some experience properly, wait until you’re in your 20’s and make the move. Plenty other places worldwide to try your hat at

Bad news:

You have to be 20 to even apply for it.

And you will need 500,000 baht or equivalent in your countries currency, saved in a bank account.

The applications itself costs around 10-15,000 baht depending on where you apply. With some places being far more expensive ( New Zealand, looking at you! )

Good news:

You're only 19 and can spend time saving up for that goal, while you work on getting a higher income per month. $400 won't get you much here.

It's good to have dreams and goals though.

Keep the dreams, work towards the goals.

Good luck!

Do you have the equivalent of 500k baht in local currency in a single bank account? That's about $

USD. Stock and other investments don't count, most places won't let you split over multiple bank accounts. Crypto doesn't count.

You need proof of money you have, not how much you made last month. And I don’t know if tik tok issues a letter that confirms you’re working for them 😱

You have to be 20 for DTV and how are you going to support yourself on $400 a month? Thailand may be cheaper than your country (USA I’m guessing?), but it’s not THAT cheap 😏

Highly unlikely that you would qualify as a remote worker based on that. However, if you think you can support yourself here and you meet the financial qualifications (500k baht equivalent in a bank account), there are other easier ways to get the DTV. My gf and I made one set of medical appointments at Bangkok International Hospital and got it not questions asked

You can’t make money off the content here tho bro. It’s part of the rules to get and keep the visa.

So how’s that going to work out ? Bc they will find out

isnt there many content creators that got the DTV for exactly that? shooting videos and pictures in thailand

so there’s a very fine line with the content creation because technically you’re not supposed to be making money in the country or off of the country, you’re supposed to be working offshore.

If your content is about Thailand, like the guy who kept getting denied, most likely they would deny you under the rules, but there’s always people that get by or whoever is checking it doesn’t think about it.

But the thing is at any time because the rules of the visa state that you cannot do business with Thai entities or basically Thailand and you’re supposed to be working offshore and they catch you making money off of YouTube videos from whatever in Thailand they have the right to revoke the visa.

Yes, I know somebody who promotes real estate they promote hotels. They promote everything all over this country and they are on this visa, and they are breaking every rule possible.

But they don’t use their real name, so whenever they stop paying off the immigration officer that I’m sure they’re paying off in Phuket, or that person goes to jail or whatever happens then they’re probably out of this country.

But technically, and legally, you’re not really supposed to have your main income source be derived from Thailand, which I’m sure you understand but the video creation falls under that if you’re earning revenue from YouTube or Instagram or whoever .

In my case, I were completely offshore, but if I post videos of Thailand, to promote my business in the United States and I do not have any Thai customers and I do not do business with any business in Thailand. I think that is OK as long as I’m not profiting off of the video itself..

You'll qualify if you have 500,000 Baht in your bank account. I don't think $400 is enough to live in Thailand every month but if your parents send you some extra money for support and/or you also have some passive income, such as rental income from back home coming in, it should work. That would mean probably a bare minimum of US$1000 / month plus some savings in case of an accident / illness plus you'll want to take out a travel insurance policy.

Alternatively, since you're only 19, you would be better off studying, learning a trade, working and saving up to perhaps eventually come over to Thailand but not now, maybe in 5+ years once you have saved enough, have a qualification etc.

In the meantime, nothing stopping you from coming over and visiting Thailand for a month or two, but at 19, you're not ready to settle down here yet.
