thank you so much. I’m getting very close (hopefully early-mid 2023) and I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with the process, especially concerned with the people who say their landlords will not give the the TM-30. Also, the whole…can’t get a bank account until one has a permanent visa but need a permanent visa to get a bank account, lol. Thanks for the clarification.

How would someone have a resident certificate if they are still on a tourist visa? I'm very confused by the process.

I think this debate has carried on far too long and will allow you that last word.

I'm not the one who made the error, but yeah...I take umbrage with anyone being called out for making honest, understandable mistakes. I'm tired of the abuse on this group. Is it really that difficult to treat others with respect?

whether logical or illogical, that’s standard date format in the States. If one is accustomed to that format, that’s how they would read the date. THAT is logical. I’m not sure what value there is in calling someone out for misunderstanding, although I know this group is full of people who love to make others feel like crap for their own amusement. I believe there’s a word for that.

fortunately, some of us would never want to be called “normal”, but I’d have to agree about the dates. It is rather frustrating that we are accustomed to a different representation than others. It makes life more complicated.

I'm so glad you asked this question. My biggest concern about getting a retirement visa was that I travel frequently and I was wondering what one does about the 90 day report. I know; I know. It seems stupid and that's why I was afraid to ask the question. Lol. I hope you don't mind my tacking onto your question and asking folks if having many exits and maybe not going for reports for an extended period of time if one travels outside the country frequently will raise any concerns when one either does finally go to report or when one goes for a visa extension?

people have a bank account when they plan to stay somewhere, not when they are tourists. Very simply, you are being given wrong information as many have already told you. You don’t need a bank account
