Hey, all. I have previously entered Thailand on a free 30 day visa and then extended it to 60 days a different time. I am currently in Siem Reap trying to get a 60 day visa to re-enter Thailand and have been told by the hostel I am going through that they now require an “original pass book” or “original bank book.” I’m told this is common to have if you have a Thai bank account, but I do not. I have given them my most recent bank statement from the States, but they are saying that’s no longer enough to get the 60 day visa. I’ve also asked if there’s another company to go through but they have assured me this is a new regulation and it will be the same elsewhere.
*UPDATE: I was told they cannot process my visa here in Siem Reap because of this new stipulation, even though I explained that banks in the U.S. don’t offer a paper “pass book” like those in Thailand. I was told to get another extension once I am back in Bangkok. However, I’m not sure how many extensions or free 30 day entrees you’re allowed in a 6 month period. Any info on this? Thank you!
