Hi,

Please advise me.

I am currently in Bangkok on a tourist visa, and I need to apply for a DTV for both myself and my wife.

Where is the best place for us to apply together—Laos or Vietnam?

Since Vietnam have e-visa portal, can I start the DTV application process from Thailand while on an e-visa?

Thank you.

Ok, so now the Thai embassies and consulates in Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam have switched over to the e-visa system.

That means you must apply online to use one of those places. You will no longer be allowed to attend the embassy or consulate in person.

As for them the system is new we won’t have any information about typical processing times for a while yet.

If you’re applying through one of them soon then please post your experiences here so we can try to gain an insight.

Hi everyone, Australian citizen here 🙋

Currently I have a lease for a condo in Bangkok and about to travel to Vietnam to do my application for DTV visa

With the DTV application form, it states to write "current address." Is it best to write my short term address where I will stay in Vietnam since I'm doing my application in Vietnam or should I write down my Bangkok or Australian address?

Same with "contact number" should I provide my Thai or Australian number or will they need to call me during this process and is it better to just get a Vietnamese sim card and provide a Vietnamese contact number?

If anybody who have gone through this process, was approved, in a similar situation as me and can give me guidance with these questions, that would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏽

I’m about to have to do a bounce, and I was planning on visiting another country close by, but after doing some in-depth research, it’s not exactly what I though it was, so I’m opening up my options. I have it narrowed down to Da Nang, Singapore and Manila/Cebu. Is there a consensus among the group of the best destination? Sorry if it’s off-topic, but I need to figure this out ASAP. Not too worried about the budget, within reason, and I can stay as long as I want. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit. Basically going because my visa is up. I enjoy Thailand, and thought the Phils were comparable, but the comments online make me now think different. The usual activities... sightseeing, tours, nightlife, etc. I'm not hard to please. Just something interesting to do to bide time before returning here.

When people are saying cambodia, laos and vietnam are switching ro evisa. What does that mean? That people can only apply from their home country? As on the evisa site, doesn’t seem to be able to be done in another country…

Edit: So looks like Laos, Jakarta + Taipei are the go to for those in Thailand and people are hevauly favouring Taiepei + Jakarta.

Had a pretty cool email from the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi:

"Dear Applicants,

The Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi would like to announce that, effective from 8 October 2024, 10:00 hrs. (UTC+7), a foreign national who is currently in Vietnam (Ha Noi, An Giang, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Bac Ninh, Binh Phuoc, Cao Bang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Dien Bien, Dong Thap, Gia Lai, Ha Giang, Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong City, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Kien Giang, Kon Tum, Lai Chau, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Binh, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, Son La, Soc Trang, Tay Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, and Yen Bai) and wishes to apply for a Thai visa must apply and submit their application through the new online e-Visa platform at [[members only]/).

From the aforementioned date onwards, it is no longer required for the applicant to submit their passport and supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi. The processing time of the visa application through the e-Visa platform will be 5 working days. Payment must be made using debit or credit cards and is non-reimbursable.

After the e-Visa application has been approved, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicant’s registered email. The applicant is kindly requested to print a copy of the confirmation email to present to the airline at the port of departure and to Thai immigration officials in Thailand.

Please note that once the visa application is submitted through the e-Visa platform, it is unable to revise any personal information. Incorrect information, including typographical error, will result in rejection. Therefore, it is highly recommended to carefully check all the information before the submission. More information can be found in the infographic attached.

Yours sincerely,

Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi"

Hello.

At which embassies in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia can I visit for drop-in services for a DTV application without needing to book an appointment in advance?

When and which of these embassies will require online applications?

How is the 10,000 thb fee to be paid—can it be paid in their local currency or in Thai baht?

Can the fee be paid by debit card, or should it be paid in cash?

Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone! Vietnam will be starting its new online eVisa process next month, and I'm curious to know what you think about it. Do you believe the new system will make things easier, or are there any concerns about how it might work? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any insights you have about this upcoming change.

What's gonna change once neighboring countries switch to e-visa? Will the process be longer? Will foreigners still be able to apply for DTV in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and so on ?
