I need some help! I am thoroughly confused as to my situation. I welcome any insight or clarity on what visa I can & should apply for. I am in the US.
I am 72 yrs old & am preparing to move Thailand for a yr (looking at early June to get there) & then come back & access whether to make it permanent or not.
Phase#1: I have sold or donated a lot! I have a storage unit with basics to restart back here if I chose to or to sell & donate all the remaining items after my 1 yr.
I am still working virtually however & don't anticipate stopping for a while. I tutor Chinese children on English for a couple of hrs a day & I represent 2 Network marketing companies that are based in the US but have a presence in Thailand along with other countries.
I was looking at a retirement visa, but it seems that you cannot work at all. I don't have the 800K bht unless I liquidate a 401K & I just meet the 65K bht monthly income with social security, dividend distribution + some of my business income.
What do you suggest. I met with a consultant for a 1 hr consult, but it isn't clear which visa I should focus on.
Hello all, I was looking for some help and or advice on the best path for me. I work for a large worldwide company and predominantly vessel based worldwide. I want to reside in Thailand for the majority of the time I’m off with the occasional few weeks in the uk throughout the year. From what I can gather the DTV would be the best option however I’m not exactly a digital nomad or remote worker as such. From what I understand I could fall under a workcationer as they do not seem to care where you make your money so long as it’s not in Thailand or through a Thai employer etc.
The privilege cards are pricy today the least and a LTR seems difficult to get. I could possibly get a letter from my company stating I am not required to be in the UK for my work and I can easily provide evidence for funds etc.
I tried in one of the other expat groups but it’s just so full of people more interested in sarcastic comments. I am headed to Bangkok at the end of the month to escape this crappy winter that’s still going on back there.
Anyone heard any more info on a new visa that’s supposed to come out called the “Long Stay Visa” for people who buy a condo. I saw a brief video on Facebook that also said anyone who signs a long term lease 1 year or longer can also get the visa and renew it annually. The video mentioned Phuket specifically. Any word?
Hi everyone! I am posting anonymously as my work situation is uncertain and I do not want to share it with colleagues and others who know me.
We are a family of 3 and I am currently on work visa while my partner and child are on dependent visa. We are looking at plan B options as we want to remain in Thailand for another year at the bare minimum. So, I am reaching out to you:
1) if anyone tried the Long-Term Resident Visa (as highly skilled professional) and could share your experience?
2) which visa options you tried in a similar situation.
I’m a Canadian in Thailand (5+ yrs on Non-B, paying taxes) running an AI consulting biz (HK LLC, US clients). My visa expires end-Aug 2025, so I’m applying for DTV (freelance or business owner?) to bridge to LTR for PR later. Which DTV category is best for PR transition? Planning to apply in Cambodia/Vietnam. Advice appreciated!
Applying as a long term resident of Taiwan. The visa office sent me to the National Immigration Agency for proof of current location.
For the proof of 500k in assets, the instructions say 3 months of bank statements, but my bank's statements are generated only on a certain day of the month. Do I just have to wait or can I paste together a web printout of my recent transactions (showing that I transferred 500k THB into by account)? Instead of showing both deposits and expenditures/withdrawals, can I just show deposits since this is more private?
Also I've seen a few people say Taiwan requires 6 months of bank statements, even though the application says 3 months.
Hello. I'm looking for some clarification and advice. My spouse and I are from USA and both over 50.
We are looking to get the LTR next year, once my spouse can show a little extra passive income on our taxes from renting out our house.
In the interim, we would like to enter Thailand on either an O or O-A visa. The problem appears to be that we thought we only needed to show the 800,000 Baht in our bank on the day of application, but now we noticed we need three months of statements.
We have access to the funds, but with the misunderstanding, we did not yet put them in an account(s) and we want to travel soon.
We also have the option of showing $2,500 in income with those statements. We have a joint checking where my spouse can easily demonstrate that income, but I am a little short.
Based on that, it appears my spouse should have no problem with either the O Or the O-A immediately, but I might have issues.
Based on the above we have a few questions:
1) Do I need to show the money in my account for all three months? I would qualify if I only needed it on application submission.
2) Would they take our total monthly income in our joint account and split it between us? If so, then I would have enough income for all three months.
3) I know I can't open a Thai account without a 90 day visa. Of course, I could go on an exemption or vacation visa. I could then return to the USA after three months and apply for an O or O-A, but that's not very ideal. Is there another option that would allow me enter Thailand sooner and not have to return to the USA to reapply?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, and for helpful clarification or advice.
