I’ve read recently of people having trouble opening accounts with the 90 day visa. Banks are looking for one year.

Just pay the US$40 for the visa to enter Laos.

And good luck getting that bank account. I’ve heard of the applications being rejected until you have a one year visa.

I also don’t know how you extended a 60 day visa exemption by 60 days.

One of the banks. Can’t remember which.

You can use TagThai. This is a prepaid card that you can use almost anywhere. It uses the QR code of the business. Downside is you’re got to top it up with cash.

You could live on that but it won’t be too wild.

Food: ฿1000 a day

Beer: ฿120 for a large one

Cocktails: ฿200 each

Tours: ฿1000-2000

Accommodation: ฿1000-2000 a night.

Taxis: use Grab or Bolt. Link your credit card to the account (Wise or Revolut will be fine).

You can spend more or less than these prices, depending on where you are and what you do.

That’s your problem. The banks want a longer period than 3 months.

But what is the duration of your current visa? If it’s less than a year the banks are unlikely to let you open an account.
