I co-own a Thai company and I am registered as one of the managing directors.

I used to live in Thailand full-time so it made sense to have the yearly non-B visas and extend them every year at the immigration, but I recently moved abroad and only come to work in Thailand for a max of 3 months a year. We also no longer need the 4 employees and would like to scale down to 1 or 2.

What are my options now visa-wise? Ideally I would like to remain as one of the managing directors.

Thanks in advance!

Is Non-B Visa extension’s validity decided according to the length of the employment contract or work permit?

Hello, I have recently been working as a teacher in Thailand and have now changed jobs. Before leaving, I intentionally did not extend or renew my visa, as I wanted my work permit and Non-B visa from my previous employer to be cancelled. I have returned to the UK for the summer with the intention of applying for a new Non-B visa to begin my new teaching role in Thailand next month.

However, when I departed Thailand, I did not receive an exit stamp in my passport. I am concerned that without this, my previous visa and work permit may not be properly cancelled, which could affect the processing of my new visa.

I would appreciate any advice or assistance on how to ensure my previous visa is officially cancelled so that I can proceed with my new application.

Hello, I've been receiving a lot of help.

Currently, I receive my salary in Korea, and I also have a work permit in Thailand, where I am working. My Non-B visa ends on August 20th, and my work permit expires on August 1st.

I'm planning to go to Vietnam on August 21st to apply for a DTV. Will there be any issues with this?

Thank you.

Dear group, now after 8 month of soft-power DTV I might need to change my visa to a regular working visa. As I just applied to a bunch of white-collar expat jobs here in BKK and already have interviews scheduled.

I'd assume the process is pretty intense, but would be handled by (company) lawyers anyways.

Just to get a broader picture: has somebody in this group done this Visa transformation? How was it?

Anything one should know?

(PS: It would be also a bit strange and first time for me to be 'totally' in the hands of the visa sponsor company - at least this is how I'd likely feel in the first few months. What do you think?)

Does anyone have any experience of applying for a business visa? I will be looking at opening a business in Thailand but yet again Google really is not my friend with the conflicting information!

It says I must apply via a Thai embassy but goes on to say "you may be able to do this once in Thailand" May is not "you can" which is why I am here

Before asking Google I was under the impression that I can apply for a Non-B once inside Thailand but apart from that, I was hoping someone could run me through the process and any pitfalls to look out for.

The business will require premises so I will hire a solicitor to "rubber stamp" the contract so I dont get any unwelcome demands or changes by the landlord and will get them to check my paperwork is ready to submit

Foolishness will be punished by chinese burn and a nipple tweak 😁

I am currently in Vientiane in the process of applying my Non-B visa and need help as to the order in which things need to occur.

I have all the paperwork needed to apply for my non b visa. Now that I am out of the country, in which order do I need to complete the steps to obtaining my new visa via the Vientiene Embassy.

Thank you!!

Approved in Hanoi today, DTV soft power 🎉🎉

Hi guys,

Just got my visa approved today! I wanted to say thanks for all the tips I got from this group, so I'm gonna share my experience in return, might help someone in a similar situation.

My case was a bit different from most I’ve seen here. I worked in a Thai company for almost a year under a Non-B visa and BOI work permit. I resigned last month because I got a better position in the US (software dev full remote).

At first, I wanted to go for the DTV workation, but I couldn’t provide proof of income from my new company since I haven’t started yet. So I decided to try the Muay Thai soft power visa instead, since they don’t ask for income proof, at least not in Vietnam.

I quit my previous job a month ago and cancelled my Non-B visa. Right after that, I booked a flight to Ho Chi Minh City BUT I applied in Hanoi because I read too many bad stories about the HCMC consulate, didn’t wanna try it.

Here’s what I uploaded—3 PDF documents:

1. Financial info:

* Bank statement from my Thai account (K-Bank) for the past 3 months – ending balance: 240k THB

* Bank statement from my French account (BoursoBank) – ending balance: 12k EUR (~450k THB)

* Fund certificate from my French bank including all my accounts (~24k EUR or ~950k THB)

* A doc I wrote explaining all the numbers, conversions, etc.

2. Muay Thai docs:

* My club provided everything, I didn’t check all the docs. Super professional. The owner said he’s sponsored over 100 visas without a single rejection. Highly recommend Phuket Muay Thai in Rawai.

3. Proof of location:

* Stamp on arrival

* Airbnb reservation + receipt (5 days)

* A letter to the embassy explaining my situation, why I want this visa, how I’ve always respected this country and their rules after 3 visas, etc.

* Resignation letter signed by my old employer

* Letter from the BOI office confirming my Non-B visa is no longer valid

Timeline:

* Arrived & applied: 1st of July

* Status: Pending approval on 2nd of July

* Approved: Today, 8th of July

I was super impatient and a bit stressed because I saw people getting approved in 3 days at the same embassy. In the end, it worked out, my guess is that it took a bit longer because my case was a bit unusual.

Final advice: double-check your docs if everything is ok at the begining its gonna go fast, and don’t waste too much time checking your status, it’s super stressful and doesn’t help much (yes I sometimes checked more than 5 times in 30 minutes) 😅

Hi all. I will soon need to leave Thailand for the sake of changing employers. I only have 18 days remaining on my visa and work permit, so not enough time to transfer to my new workplace (teacher).

To the point, which place is quickest and cheapest to obtain a tourist visa, so my new employer can start processing my future work permit and Non B visa. What requirements does a tourist visa applicant need to fulfill these days? I haven't done this for many years.

Thank you for your assistance.
