For those who want to apply for a DTV visa, my friend applied through a Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai, since you have to register for a course at a gym before applying. He then flew to another country to submit the DTV visa application at the Thai embassy, but it was rejected. This Muay Thai gym is popular in this group , which is why he trusted it. I called the owner in Chiang Mai to ask for a refund, and she asked where I was. When I told her I was in Bangkok, she said that since she’s in Chiang Mai and I’m in Bangkok, I can’t do anything to her. So be careful, you might be the next unlucky one. The gym even threatened me if I left any bad reviews on Google Maps. The gym has great reviews for visas and advertises a refund policy, but when he asked for a refund, they refused. And that’s the reason why they have good reviews, because of Thailand’s defamation laws.

Officially from Ho chi minh in Vietnam for DTV Workcation, the information I read says we can use a sponsor for the 500k bhat in account.

After paying for the application they have stated that a sponsor is not allowed, and the funds need to be shown in my account for a minimum of 6 months.

Can anyone clarify why the sponsor cannot be accepted when everywhere I've looked it seemed a legitimate path?

Is this a glitch in the system? Did the rules change?

If I apply for the soft power option, then can I still work remotely as a freelancer LEGALLY? Just wondering because the soft power version seems easier to get.

Some people have been asked for their job at the airport. Would that be a weird situation with soft power option? Thank you

If someone could give me quick advice it’d be greatly appreciated! I need to know two things. 1.) Can my wife also be on my DTV visa, would she need to provide anything, or does she have to have her own?

2.) I do not own a business. I work remotely doing customer service rep online for a company.. Would that be accepted?

Ps- I have not applied just yet. I’m trying to get all of my eggs in one basket first!

Has anybody applied for DTV as a spouse of a DTV visa holder? My husband plans to get it first and then I want to get it as his spouse. We are thinking of making a sponsorship letter to cover my financial evidence. Has anybody applied with that? What does that letter have to look like? Also, to complicate things even more, we are a gay couple and I am not sure if Thailand will recognize foreign gay marriages immediately after January 23 (when their law is coming in force). Any thoughts appreciated!

I have read the requirements on the websites for the DTV visa. It doesn’t say we need proof of a monthly amount if you’re coming to engage with soft activities. The only money requirement mentioned is the 500,000 in an international or Thai bank account.

Is this correct?

Ive got an offer from a law firm that looks legit to do the DTV visa with them from within Thailand and then I’ll just have to do a visa run for it to take effect. Is this Legal? That would be great and save me a lot of time. Thanks!
