Hey guys, I’m currently in Thailand and trying to figure out how to stay longer—around 3 months or more.

I’d like to avoid land border runs (I really don’t trust those mini-vans 😅), but I’m trying to plan things out properly.

Here’s my situation so far:

- June 2 to July 10, 2024: I stayed in Thailand earlier this year (used the 45-day visa exemption + 30-day extension).

- December 9, 2024, to February 7, 2025: I’m currently here again (planning to use the 60-day visa exemption + 30-day extension).

I'm from Portugal, Europe..if that matters.

In February 2025, I’m thinking about leaving by plane for a week, go to China for a few days, and then flying back to Thailand.

My goal is to get another visa exemption for another 2-3 months.

I know it’s ultimately up to the immigration officer, but how strict are they considering the days I spent here the last year?

Would this work, or should I look into another solution?

I’m planning to get an DTV/ED in June 2025, so I just need to figure out how to handle my stays until then.

Question: I'm visiting Thailand beginning of 2025 on a visa exempt..planning to stay 1-2 months, after which I want to fly to another Asian country and spend there one week before returning to Thailand for another couple of weeks (so another visa exempt).

Could this possibly be problematic upon flying back to Thailand? I've heard stories that entering Thailand twice a year on a visa exempt is not always granted anymore since the introduction of the DTV.

Hi there. I will be arriving at Suvarnabumhi next week with a brand new Irish passport. It has a new number. Is there any problem with this? How do they pull up my travel history? Should I bring my old passport just in case? Is my name n fingerprints enough?

Does anybody here has experiences or knowledge about entering Thailand with two different passports and therefore nationalities?

I know that immigration using a biometric system which should identify one via fingerprints or the picture. But would be curious if it really worked or not?

In case it is working and they ask you about dual citizenship, my assumption would be that this should be no big issue if you give them a valid explanation.

Or do I miss something and using a different passports than the times before could be seen as cheating to vanish the previous travel history?

I have an “and everything else” Q: 8yrs ago (2016) I stayed in a hotel on what people are telling me was the backside of Kasetsart University.

All I can remember about the area from that time is the following:

coming off of whatever main road (I believe from JJ Market/Nakhon Chai Air 🚌 ) the 🚖 turned left onto my destination street and almost immediately again turned left. I was surprised at how fast we’d reached.

There was a really nice almost new looking 7-11 tucked off to my right on this soi. It had really nice and clean food stalls where you had to climb up a few stairs as I saw from the back seat to my left, and the strip had lots of nice looking hotels on the right (same side as the 7). Even the 1 I stayed in was perfect and surprisingly quiet given all the night life hustle and bustle on the strip.

It had a decent amount of night foot traffic but nothing near as busy as Soi 11… Although if you walked to the end of the soi and looked right, the man road was but a stones throw away. Someone who frequents BKK more often, please #help! What area of Kasetsart Uni was I in?!… 🤔

I can’t remember the area or the hotel because I’ve had no need to go to Bangkok since then really and I’ve got an English Camp coming up around that area week of the 7th. If I can learn the name of the area, I can probably find the hotel unless of course they’ve been remodeled/bought out. #changeisaconstant

Hi. Looking for advice.

I am a pakistani citizen but recently moved to UAE and a resident now. Thailand visa has a 3-6 months bank statement requirement. But i have only 2 months Oct and Nov. But with a decent balance. And i want to travel by mid of Dec.

I have a good travel history. And been to thailand before multiple times as well - not sure if that will help. But what to know….

Is there any way i can still apply for the visa?

The near endless "will I get in okay" post requests

We RARELY let posts where people ask if they're going to have a problem getting in get posted on this group and we get a LOT of people wanting to post questions like that.

It's not that we deny those posts because we don't want to answer/help you, the reason we don't let them on is because there are WAY too many variables in that answer and truth be told there is NO real correct answer. :/

Things that factor in to you entering thailand successfully are

-previous entry / stay history

-what airport you fly into

-whether you were here over covid

-whether you have an old ED or Volunteer visa in your passport

Unfortunately the real deciding factor is the officer you're standing in front of when you go to stamp in <- and that is beyond your control..

There is NO rhyme or reason on why some people with extensive entry stay histories skate in and other people are pulled aside and grilled after one entry :/

There doesn't appear to be any specific nationality they're targeting, no number of days in thailand, no previous number of entries, although ED and Volunteer visas (especially those b/s back door ones people got during covid and those covid extension stamps are considered "stamps of death" .. :O )

When flying in with extensive entry/stay history airport choice DOES seem to factor in to it. BOTH Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK) seem much harder on people than say Phuket or Chiang Mai <-(which has no reported denial of entries).

All you can really do is be prepared by having

- proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent in CASH)

-proof of onward travel within the number of days you will get stamped in for <- that means if you're comin' in free stamp for 30 days have onward travel IN 30 days (because that "I've got onward travel in 60 days because i going to get a 30 day entension" line doesn't always work

-proof of lodging for the time you're here (at least for a week)

They (officers at passport control) CAN ask for any of those things, all of those things OR none of them. Please remember the fact you were never asked does NOT mean those are requirements to enter, nor does it mean no one is asked, it just means you weren't asked

Also remember the fact you have a tourist visa doesn't guarantee you get in (especially with an extensive entry/stay history) all having a tourist visa guarantees is IF you get in, they stamp you in for 60 days

AND

A new passport doesn't "wipe the slate", your entire entry/extension/stay history is available to every officer at every entry point to thailand with a click of a button.. Now it can help for them just paging thru the passport but IF they wanna really see how much you've been coming here, a new passport isn't gonna help that much.

There are more than a few 'fast track' or 'safe entry' services out there (and I believe the company that owns this group even offers it)

Make sure who ever you contact about it knows your WHOLE entry/stay history.. Fudging your history to a company that's gonna help you get in is not a good idea.

Question, I had a few years of education visas. Been like 6 months. I’m back in the states and getting a new book. Can airport immi see past history of previous books if I have a new book?

Tourist visa in Hanoi report:

I had an appointment booked. I brought with me the following:

- Flight in and out of the country

- 1 month bank statement

- My condo contract

As my entire building is owned by a company, they asked for these additional documents:

- Incorporation documents of the company

- Power of attorney letter to the condo manager that signed the lease contract

- Copy of the ID of the manager

They also asked for a 6 months Bank statement.

The clerk was very kind and told me I could go back next day without rebooking.

I chased the missing documents from my condo but could not get them on time. I opted for booking a hotel online.

I went back next day submitted the documents and 3 days letter I got notify via email that my visa was approved.

I flew back to Thailand 10 days later in Don Mueang.

I have a brand new passport but was questioned about my long history in the country. I lived and worked here for 10 years but I quit my job last year to learn Thai and have been ever since on 1 year ED visa. The officer tested my Thai and eventually let me through after checking proof of ongoing travel.

This is going to be my last time flying in the country with a tourist visa 🙂
