is in Thailand and gets his extension of stay based on retirement his wife can apply for a extension of stay as a dependent no matter what visa she has arrived, meaning if she has a 60 day TR (add 30 extension in country) she will get her extension based of being the wife of Tony with no additional financial requirements. Am I correct?
I know that, they call them visas but they actually just short extension of stay to change the reason of stay in the country, basically it gives you the time to open bank accounts prepare everything for further extensions based on the new reason and its actually only if you have tourist visa to begin with. They are called visa for ease but if you see what a visa does it allows you to enter a country but it’s always up to the immigration office to stamp you in. What you get here is actually not a visa just a change of reason….
you cannot get a visa from Bangkok immigration you get visas only from embassies abroad, I would assume your school provide proof that you are studying there and the Bangkok immigration gave you an extension of stay based on that, you would need to cancel that. But again to be certain go to bangkok immigration and present your case they will give you the best course of action.
Looks like you are not on an Ed Visa as you mention issued by Bangkok immigration office but on an extension of stay based on studying Thai. That means you entered with an Ed visa and then extended it in Bangkok. If this is the case you should be able to change the reason for the extension of stay from Ed to work without leaving the country, go to the immigration and ask them the correct procedure, in any case the Ed extension needs to be cancelled and then you apply for the new reason (employment), this is the rule.
Il trailing spouse si applica sull’ extension of stay. Quindi tua mamma può richiedere extension of stay di un anno come trailing spouse dopo che tuo papà è in Thailandia ed ha ottenuto il
One year extension based on retirement.
Bear in mind that the financial requirement for retirement option is only for one of them, if they are legally married, the spouse would then piggy back on the yearly extension of the husband. So he would deposit 800k in the bank (the first time cannot be done with the 65k monthly) ask for extension of stay based on retirement and once he gets it she will apply for the same as spouse. You can get all the information at the immigration office you will apply. If they are not legally married they will have to do the process with the 800k each on individual accounts (joint account doesn’t work).
What you want to do doesn’t really make sense as you can use the 60 days visa and extend it for 30 in country then exit and re-enter with the 30 + 30 days no visa required. There is absolutely no difference if you do it the other way, so why go through the hassle?
