Good morning! I renewed my daughter’s Ed extension or stay in June (expat child going to school in bangkok) her extension is only up to Jan as her passport was expiring. We now got a new passport so need to transfer the extension of stay and bring it to end June as it normally is. Question is would that entail as a new extension of stay so would need to bring all school papers and pay 1900 or would that be transferred from one passport to the other and extended up to June as originally applied for and for free…? Thanks for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process to transfer your daughter's extension of stay from her old passport to the new one involves applying for a new extension of stay. Although her current extension is valid until January, you will need to submit the necessary school documents again for a new application. The fee for this application is 1900 THB. However, transferring stamps from one passport to another is free of charge in Bangkok.

You can transfer the current stamp to a new passport as it is. Her extension is until Jan. There is no extension such as 'supposed to be as of when it was applied'. So she will apply for a new 1-year extension before her extension expires with all necessary documents from her school same as the application in June, with a 1900 thb extension application fee. She will get an extension until the earlier date her school documents state or 1 year.

The fee for transferring stamps is free in Bangkok.

so it’s a two step? First a transfer the current extension and then I apply for the new one? Or can I do that at the same time?

, You can wait until you apply for a new extension to transfer stamps if you want. You go to CW, apply for a transfer of stamps, then apply for an extension.

Be warned, you might be grilled by the officer about you didn't transfer stamps when you got a new passport, since you are supposed to transfer stamps as soon as you get a new passport in Bangkok. But no significant penalty for that.

you just got a new passport and she's got an extension until Jan.

GO get the stamps moved to the new passport (so she can do 90 day reporting) and then in Dec go apply for the new year extension with documentation from the school. You move the stamps at the same counter where she got her extension (which for education in Bangkok is Counter N at Chaengwattana)

that’s what I’ll do thanks, also because we are traveling in December so have to have it done before then.
