Retirement visa:

My father have a 3 month retirement visa, he will apply soon for a 1 year showing his pension and all the papers to the immigration in Samui.

My mom (they are married) , 67 years old, can apply for " spouse / dependent visa"? Following the visa of my father? Or, as she is over 50yo, she must apply for a retirement visa as well?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses the visa options for a mother whose husband is applying for a retirement visa in Thailand. It clarifies that the father can apply for an extension of stay with certified income documents from his embassy or must have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account. The comments indicate that the mother cannot receive a trailing spouse visa and must apply for her own non-O visa, which also requires 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account unless she is applying with documents from her embassy. It is suggested that she could enter with a tourist visa and then apply for the relevant extensions.

Il trailing spouse si applica sull’ extension of stay. Quindi tua mamma può richiedere extension of stay di un anno come trailing spouse dopo che tuo papà è in Thailandia ed ha ottenuto il

One year extension based on retirement.

If they’re Italian

(?) I think your embassy still offers to provide you an affidavit letter to confirm your income in Thailand.

If you apply for a 90 days Non O at home you just use your bank at home.

Your father can apply for his extension of stay with this letter from your embassy and if his wife wants to apply for a 90 days Non O in Thailand she also can use the affidavit letter if she’s Italian. The general requirement is a pension equal to minimum 65K thb month OR 800K in a thai bank if you don’t meet the requirements regarding pension.

You cannot get a 1-year retirement extension showing pension papers. The ONLY way to show income is with embassy certified income. Unless he has a letter certifying his retirement income from his embassy, he will need 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account.

You cannot get a "trailing spouse" non-O visa in Thailand. The only option is to get it from your home country's embassy before traveling to Thailand. Unless she has that she will need to get her own non-O visa with 800,000 in a Thai bank account.

thank you for your answer. My dad will get a letter certificying his income from the Italian embassy.

About my mum, can she apply for a non- O retirement visa in a Thai consulate/ embassy in Penang/ KL/ Singapore/ etc.. showing 800,000 baht in her Italian bank account? And in case she can, does she need also a certificate from the Italian embassy?Or she must move them in a Thai bank account?

@Toni *******
she cannot. None of the Thai embassies in the area offer a trailing spouse visa. The last embassy that offered it stopped in November last year. The only option now is getting it from the Thai embassy in Italy, or her getting her own income certification from the embassy.

if she get an income certificate from the Italian embassy and keep the money in the her bank account in Italy, can she get a Non O visa from a embassy/ consulate in Penang or KL?

@Toni *******
if she can get the certificate from the embassy she can get it in Thailand. She won't need to leave.

or she can get a non-o directly inside Thailand by showing 800k baht in a Thai bank account in her name

if they offer it which I'd imagine they do yes. Best thing is to pop into the immigration office and ask their requirements. Most offices have handouts they provide
