Can someone point me to the official rule concerning when one can apply for extension of stay on the original 90 days non immigrant visa based on foreign child studying here. It's not strictly Thai visa related as my wife entered Thailand on her new visa and on applying for a visa for another country the embassy says that they need the extension of stay to prove her residency here, while I am telling them that che cannot apply yet as it can only be done about a month before expiry, they asked for the official rule..... grateful for any help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking official rules regarding the timing for applying for an extension of stay on a 90-day non-immigrant O visa, specifically in relation to their wife, who requires this extension for visa purposes in another country. Responses indicate varying practices among different Immigration Offices in Thailand, with some allowing applications 30 to 45 days before the expiration, but a clear official guideline is not readily available.

Phuket, Bangkok, Chang Mai, Krabi and there is one more, let people apply for an 1 year Extension of Stay during the last 45 days of your permitted to stay period. Other Immigration Offices allow you during the last 30 days. I do not know if there is an official rule about this.

Going back to early 2019...you were asking about the Ed Visas and deposits of 500,000 Thb per child in a Thai bank.

What happened since then?

Did you or did you not deposit the required money Thai bank?

What are you really wanting to do now ???

There are over 70+ Thai Immigration offices...and what one may require for a visa or extension is not necessarily what another office might require. Therefore...you really are subject to the asked for requirements of your local immigration office.
