TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can purchase a re-entry permit at the airport in Bangkok, and both Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports have re-entry counters open 24/7. It's important to note that you will need to buy the re-entry permit after check-in, and it generally takes about 30 minutes to complete this process.

Can be done before also but only works if you intend to do that first then queue at Immi 2 for the exit stamp. On premium lane or Immi 3 you are basically forced to do it after, but there is no issue with that.

Yes, and the woman at the reentry permit office will let you walk back into airside since you already have the exit stamp.

As a matter of fact, I even got chopped at Immigration 3 once (not premium), and walked back to Immigration 2 via airside to the reentry permit office. That is also possible.

Yes I used the premium lane in Suvarnhabumi and then applied for a reentry permit. There is no difference, the premium lanes are just lanes located next to the other lanes, although separated by a wall. After getting the exit stamp, you turn left and walk to the same reentry office. If in need for the photoservice, you just keep walking "back into the country", then back to reentry office, then back to airside. They will let you do that.

In the back left corner as you face the passport control officers.

Suvernabhumi:

after check-in and security screening, and before passport control. On the right corner when you enter the passport control desks floor from the escalator.

Don Muang:

after check-in and passport control (you need mention about re-entry permit at the desk), and before security screening. Just behind the passport control counters.

now. I'd say allow no more than 30 minutes extra to get the re-entry permit
