Unfortunately most immigration officers interpret the rules different, as far as I am aware there is no limit to how many tourist visas you can get,

Before coming to Thailand i saw on their website you can only stay a maximum of 180 days, but that is an old and obsolete rule to my knowledge,.

I know this doesn't really help.

My thinking is some io's may still go by those rules.

I built My house last year, if the new rules were in effect then, I wouldn't have been able to.

on a visa exempt, and you want to extend, are you travelling or staying in the same place?

Depending where you are!

You can go fill in the (tr7 I think) and fill in the tm30 yourself, get a copy of your landlords 🆔 and blue book and take them with you.

I have been reading comments on this subject and immigration are saying there will be lenience this year as a one of with reference to funds being transferred every month either 65k non 0 extension or the 40k marriage extension,

However it had to be noted that it will be up to the io on the day.

2 months for the first extension 3 months for the second
