TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a non-immigrant visa (90-day) and plans to apply for a retirement visa in March. They are inquiring whether they can apply for a multiple entry visa while still on the non-immigrant visa. Commenters clarified that a re-entry permit would be necessary for exiting and returning during the 90-day period.

Getting advice locally is pretty much non existent.

Thanks again for your help

@Da***
, remember you can apply for a yearly extension of stay at most immigration offices when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. You don't lose any time by going early because they add the year to your current expiration date.

okay, be that as it may my original advice still stands.

IF you need to leave and come back during that 90 day "admitted until" stamp you have you'd need a re-entry permit. It would only be valid for those 90 days.

Once you get your yearly extension based on retirement you'd need to buy a new re-entry permit to cover you for the year

You got stamped in for 90 days when you entered, IF you need to exit and come back into the country during those 90 days you would need a re-entry permit. it will ONLY be valid for that 90 day period.

I take it you're already inside the country so the validity of the VISA is of no concern anymore.
