TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 requirement applies when leaving Thailand and returning, regardless of the type of visa one holds. This discussion highlights varying enforcement practices across Thailand, with some immigration offices more lenient than others. There are suggestions about preparing TM30 forms in advance and the complications that arise due to language barriers or landlord availability.

Well just gotinformation today from Phuket town immigration that they now only force it if you have been outside of Thailand ... change again ... before every travel even weekends ....will see what happens
For the record Kanchanaburi also requires a tm30 each time I return. As someone above posted, I have a supply of pre- signed tm30 and as my imm office is on the way home from the airports I drop in with the form.
Can you photo copy a load of TM30 Forms get him/her to sign the lot at once .
Fill the rest in yourself so when you come back in go and hand one in to imo remember you only have 24hrs to do it. And if your imo office is to far away you can hand it in to your local police station.
although it's the law it does depend somewhat on your local immigration office as to how it's enforced, for example Chiang Mai is extremely strict on it and there are reports of Phuket and Pattaya cracking down as well.
