TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the topic of overstaying in Thailand and its increasing attention from authorities, as noted in various news articles. Participants share personal experiences with immigration, the perception of Thailand's legal system, and the changes in enforcement practices. Concerns are raised about ongoing arrests related to overstaying and other legal issues, with an acknowledgment of the challenges expats may face in navigating Thai immigration rules.

Over 15 years here and never a problem with immigration. Just follow the rules.

Moldavian man arrested with help of Dutch Police for hosting website with child porn, Belgian man arrested for extortion other expats, French man arrested for extortion and hacking into banks. Yep, the Thai Police is cleaning up.

As far is I know there are more Thais in jail than foreigners. And I see more than once every day Thais getting arrested. But I agree with you, they don't arrest Thais for Visa problems.

... The reality is that going after overstayers and illegal aliens is easy. now let's hope that they could focus on things as simple as driving and wearing helmets or drug peddlers along Sukhumvit... not holding my breath.

well when you try to do it the right way in Thailand you always end up like you are the stupid one so yes your are right but it will take at least 50 years for some things to change here :) meanwhile I enjoy not paying tax and drive drunk with no helmet :)
