TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, who has been separated from his Thai wife for 10 years and is currently in England, seeks advice on verifying his marriage status in Thailand despite lacking documentation. Commenters provide various suggestions, including checking with the local amphur (district office) where the marriage was registered, contacting the Thai Embassy, and considering that he may still be legally married unless he has finalized a divorce.
If it wasn't officially registered, you ain't legally married.

Divorce in Thailand very easy, 4 questions.
Have children? YES
Happy? YES
Have money? YES
Happy? YES
OK divorced
I think it cost us 40bt in photocopies and other docs, I gave the ex 20bt π€£π€£π€£, I still tell the funny story to this day, when I see westerners divorcing in homeland and it costs 1000s

Surely if not divorced then ur legally still married, quite dangerous if your wealth has increased, as they can get a lawyer to communicate with solicitor in uk to freeze your assets until an amicable financial settlement has been reached

You are still married unless you have completed a divorce.

Hello, I am Thai and I just went to register our marriage at the Thai Embassy in Bangkok last month. They have opened an office upstairs in Central World sixth floor Zone D (

Rama1 Road). You can e mail them at consular. mfg.go.th or call them at 091-723-3604. I would assume that they can answer your questions . If not, they probably can refer you to someone who can help. Good luck!
Are you planning on getting married to someone new?

Unless you got divorced then yeah you're still married

A difficult one, but I'll try to assist.
I was married to a Thai for 12 years; the ' celebration' was in Udon Thani, her home area. But had to go to Bangkok to get the marriage authenticated. We both returned to the UK in April 2002,legally married. I did pursue authentication in the UK,but was informed not necessary.
A Magistrates court in Peterborough in 2012 dissolved the marriage in December of that year. If your marriage was registered in the UK no problem, contact the said office and they can advise. As a British national I would suggest your marriage would have to be registered, with the British Embassy in Bangkok.
I can try to find the contact information for the lady that handled my marriage. She would at least know how to determine if you are married and what you can do about it.

The local amphur should have a copy of the marriage certificate.. it is necessary to register your marriage there before you can apply for a non-o married visa.. so that is a good starting point.. if you have any friends still living in Thailand then maybe they can go in person and make some enquiries on your behalf.. though i'd suggest arming them with a letter of authority in advance.. and maybe a letter of enquiry signed by you asking all the questions you need answering.. or simply ask them to go visit your wife and ask her for information before going to the amphur for verification.. just a thought π€
To register my marriage it was more complicated than turning up to one office. If you canβt remember if you got legally marriage is a problem in its self. I think youβre single.
I was single, with a "Non Impediment" from Australia. The officai marriage Sathorn, Bangkok, City Council , took 15 minutes and the official deed produced and handed over to us. Accepted everywhere.
