With a non b can you use an existing 90 day non b to work for another employer when you leave the existing one, and then apply for a new work permit?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a Non-B visa that is not company-specific (i.e., it does not list your previous employer), you can change employers and apply for a new work permit. However, if the Non-B visa is company-specific, you will need to obtain a new visa to switch employers.

The original employer needs to cooperate with the change over for an easy transition

@Da***
That is indeed a company specific visa. :O

If that's NOT the company they're going to work for they can't use it for an extension of stay . :(

They CAN stay until the 90 day stamp they got is up though because a VISA can't be canceled and they are entitled to stay the amount of time they got stamped in on it.

Unfortunately they will need to go get another Non-B for the new company.

@Da***
he's not on an extension of stay yet, he's still on the original entry from the visa so
@Dam***

Might be a problem for him then, they haven't paid him which is why he is leaving,

That is ONLY if you are canceling an extension of stay from one job and applying for a new one from another job. If you're still on the original visa itself and it is NOT company specific your old employer doesn't need to do anything at all.

Here's an example of a company specific Non-B visa from Vientiane

I will see him today, thanks again

@David *********
some consulates write the name of the company ON the visa in the remarks section too, only vientiane uses those printed stickers that I'm aware of

IF you are on the initial entry of a Non-B visa AND the visa is not company specific (meaning it doesn't have the company listed on the visa) you can switch employers.

However if it has the original company you worked for when you got the visa on it you cannot. You need to go get a new visa and start over.
