90 day non O visa was really easy for me in uk. Took about an hour to complete the form online. I only had to show one bank statement as well as flight details, including an onward flight (which I didn’t use) and accommodation address plus a few other id documents like passport and proof of uk address. All done online with PDF attachments. It took about 10 days to receive the e visa. Once in Thailand I used an agent for the rest (retirement in my case) and before people start commenting You could have done it yourself in Thailand Up To Me. There was an option to apply for the retirement visa in uk so might be the same for the marriage visa. That would have been the cheaper option but I didn’t have the correct timeframe as my move was dependent on property investment. Good luck with it. It’ll be worth the bit of hassle.

Lynnette Munoz actually it’s 1900 for the extension fee and a further 5000 for the multi entry visa. You can do it your self but I have the money to pay for the Convenience.

My experience was as follows:

Applied for a 90 day visa in uk a month before travel. E Visa took about 10 days to arrive. I printed a copy and completed the TDAC and arrived in Bangkok. Passport stamped as well as the printed visa. I checked with k bank and they told me I needed to bring my passport, the visa, a TM30 and a rental contract. Once I had all of that as well as a Thai contract phone number I went to the bank and opened an account. I then transferred money into the account by using Wise. I then went to a Visa agent and applied for a retirement visa. The 12 months validity of this visa started once the 90 day visa expired giving me 15 months in total. Another way to do it if you have time and the correct documents and funds is to apply for a retirement visa before you travel. You can easily do that but it can take time in uk to get the police and medical documents ready. Opening a bank account will be the same process though.

The issue is that often UK banks won’t allow you to have a bank account if you live overseas. If you have a uk address (rental property and a uk forwarding address, like a family member) and transactions come and go you should be ok. But it will depend on the bank. If your pension is your only income and you transfer each month from uk to overseas they’ll get suspicious as your banking activity may get flagged up. Also you could ask your pension provided if they’ll pay into an overseas bank. For transfers from uk to Thailand you can use Wise among others but they charge per transaction so you’d need to check how much that would come to on a monthly basis.

Either apply for the retirement visa from your own country before you travel or get a 90 day non o visa before you travel. Once you’re here you’ll need your visa, your passport, a Thai phone number,a TM30 and a rental agreement contract. Then it’s easy. Or contact someone like Thai visa Centre to assist. If you go with the 90 day option you’ll probably need to use an agent to get the retirement visa. All very easy. It your on a DTV it’s more complicated but Thai Visa Centre can advise you.

There are plenty of other ways to leave Thailand. Go to Laos or Vietnam or go further to Malaysia.

Graham Seal yes it’s got to be before the expiry date. I think the OP was worried because the issue date was before their travel date.
