Applied online at Vietnam.

Submitted on 9 April. Asked for extra documents last week. Until today 24 April still asking for additional documents like every page of my passport and extra passport photo.

My entry stamp is only valid till 7 May. What happens if it is not approved by 7 May? Anyone got into this situation before?

DTV ISSUE: I am in Da Nang, they have said I still have a valid tourist visa, so I must wait until this expires and re-submit application. I have another month until it expires, has anyone had this response? Do I have to leave and come back to Vietnam in a month? re-upload all documents? pay again? Thanks!

Email reads "You still has valid TR visa. Please wait under the visa is expired and resend this application again"

Approved HCMC Vietnam as an employee. Applied Monday 3rd March, request additional documents Tuesday 4th, pending approval Wednesday 5th, approved Wednesday 12th.

Instead of providing details about my application I will give some brief points about what I learned.

Many people have speculated that the time to approval depends on the date you're going back. I provided March 17th as my return date, which might have delayed my application. I didn't want to provide an earlier date, because it might have passed before approval. This is only a theory, but I would advise to supply a return date within a week (at your own risk).

I provided a separate bank statement in my initial application with only my salary payments, but I was still requested to provide another bank statement with salary payments highlighted. So don't get creative, was my takeaway.

Web services that help with pdf editing harvest your data. So be careful about what documents you upload online.

The bank statement needs to contain your name and the currency, if it's not a Thai account. I supplied my bank statement in Swedish, not English or Thai. I also read about others supplying it in other languages. So I did not need to get the statement translated.

When you create your application, it tells you which regions of the county belong to reach embassy/consulate. I was initially going to go to HCMC, but someone in this group recommended me to go to Da Nang instead.

Da Nang, and neighboring Hoi An, are some of the best (and cheapest) places in the world to wait out your application. Fantastic weather, cheaper than Thailand, great people, less smog, great western and local food. I totally recommend going there. The only downside is that the Hanoi consulate seems to process applications quicker, and according to some they are less stringent.

Even though I'm an employee and not a freelancer, I was asked to provide my CV. So it's probably a good idea to do that initially.

I want to apply in Vietnam as a business owner, but I have one question regarding the 500k baht. I have that amount in my business account, but that won’t be accepted.

Has anyone been accepted (or denied) transferring 500k to their personal account from their business account one week before applying?

My experience going via Vietnam.

Flew into Cam Ranh and applied via Ho Chi Minh City embassy on Friday 14 Feb. I had my business registration documents, employment contract, client invoices and bank statements all put together and uploaded to the portal by the team at Settle in Abroad. (Workcation category.)

- Feb 18th: asked for additional document - a full copy of every page in my passport. Note: this is not requested in the initial application form in the portal, but my agent had warned me in advance so we had it ready to go the same day.

- Feb 21st, 12.30pm: approved.

All up 5 working days.

We did consider going via Cambodia as it seemed to be the path of least bureaucratic resistance, but Vietnam makes for a more comfortable trip IMO.

Looking to go to Hanoi or Penang to complete my DTV. Anyone know the current days to approve at either? I feel like my file is complete as a remote worker.

Also at either Penang or Hanoi, what are there bank statement requirements ?

Thank you in advance.

For anyone that applied in Vietnam, Jakarta, or Cambodia, how much time did you budget for the application process? I'm trying to determine whether I should book for 1 week or 2 weeks.

I'm a cryptocurrency trader and liquidated ~700k THB and deposited it into my personal checking account, however I don't receive a consistent paycheck. Ideally I would like to apply at an embassy that accepts 1 month bank statement. Spoke with a law firm in Bangkok (Baan Thai) and they recommended applying in Vietnam. They said Vietnam is fast (5 days) and although they require 6 month bank bank statement, they are only concerned with the final closing balance.

However, I've read posts on here stating that Jakarta accepts 1 month bank statement and is quite fast as well.

Could anyone share their experience or recommendation?

For context, I'm applying under Muay Thai Soft Power through FITFAC. Course is paid in full for 9 months. US citizen.
