TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that as long as you maintain a balance of at least 800,000 baht in your account for two months before applying for your retirement visa and for three months after approval, you can use any surplus above that amount. It is advised to keep your primary retirement visa funds separate from your everyday expenses to avoid accidentally falling below the required amount.

Your 800k must remain untouched for the seasoning period and normally for 2 months after the extension has been granted.

I only have 1 account with Kasikorn, i dont drop below 800k and still use the account for everyday living. They know about the IO requirements and are very helpful IMHO.

Ok.... you say you have 800k. You know the rules clearly...great.

You say you leave the 800k on your account...... so then I not understand why you ask. The rule is 800k. You have 800k.... so.... Where's the problem

As long as your balance never falls below 800,000 baht, you will be OK.

John Robert Kane YES. the safest thing to do, is however to open another account.

Keep a bit over 800.000 in the one account, and the rest in the other for use.

Then you do not risk, by mistake, to get under the 800.000.

Good question.

Please appreciate it is Thailand’s Immigration Bureau that enforces the legislation and not Meta/FB.

Searching this site shows a plethora of opinion so good luck.

Be aware that one of the Thai banks has a habit of freezing your account after issuing the letter for immigration when getting a retirement extension, just make sure that you are not using that bank. There's plenty of posts about it and even reports on some expat Thai news sites but I won't name them as I don't want to get in trouble with the Thai anti-defamation laws. I use 2 bank accounts with Kasikorn bank, one that holds the 800k and the other for living expenses to ensure I don't accidentally drop below the 800k.

A minimum of 800k baht must be maintained for the full 2 months before you apply for the extension and must be maintained for 3 months after you receive the extension then you can't fall below 400k at any point during the extension

I'm assuming as he's in Thailand he's actually applying for a 12 month extension of stay, and incorrectly calling it a visa (a common event). So you won't find it on any embassy website but you will find it on the Thai immigration website. To apply for the 90 day Non-O visa there's no such restrictions

What are the requirements for a none O marriage visa as my wife has an income here in Thailand
Like

Gary Gardiner You need a minimum of 400,000 in a Thai Bank account in your name for at least 2-3 months prior to application. I think that your wife's income is irrelevant
